FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH OF MANCHESTER, MANCHESTER, NY

The First Baptist Church of Manchester was originally organized as the First Baptist Church of Famington (before the division of the town), and dates back to 1797, although not until 1810 was the first log meeting-house built, followed by a stone chapel in 1815.  In 1822 Farmington was divided and Manchester was formed, where upon the society took the name of  The First Baptist Church of Manchester.  The property on which the present large church now stands was purchased in 1849, and in the same year the meeting-house was built.  A few years back, an addition was added to the church for a Kindergarten School, Child Care, church offices and the many church bake sales, fish dinners (during lent), and more.  They do a great deal for the local area and missionaries.

Good Morning Everyone,

This is a beautiful church. Friends of mine go there so I have been in it. Manchester is a nice quaint community.

Looks very nice. Glad you got to go there for worship with your friends. Did your area get any rain over this wknd? Sure rained like crazy overnight in Forestport last night. If you're not sure where that is, it's about 40 mins south on Rt 28 from Old Forge, NY. Once we got back home we were told our own area had quite a storm this morning- some places even got hail! Have a great week, Blessings, Carol

Hi Carol,
It is a very nice church. It is nice to go with my friends sometimes. It rained, thunder, and lightening last night. I don't know where Forestport is, but I do know where Old Forge is. Use to go to Tupper Lake, but it's been years since I've been there. We are suppose to get a lot of rain tonight and tomorrow. We have Flood Watch here. Hope you have a great week, too, Marilyn
