Just want everyone to know that I'm putting lots of Amish and Mennonite items in my ebay store. Right now I have Family Life Magazine for the 1970's through the 1980's. I plan on putting the 1990's today and the 2000's tomorrow. I still have to scan all the 2000's yet.
Family Life Magazine and Young Companion, which I will also be putting on, are by the Amish and Mennonite for the Amish and Mennonite. There are articles, Health Questions, Homemaking, poems and more. If you want to know about the real Amish and Mennonite, these are the magazines to read.
Also, I have more Amish and Mennonite made dresses to put on which I hope to have on by the end of this week. I also have a few prayer Kapps. I have some other items to put on, too. Just go to Family Life on the right and press it to get to my store.
Also, I have been looking to see if any of Jean or Martha's family would like to sell some items in my ebay store. I got a call from Bridget, last night, Kevin's wife. She does many crafts but loves to knit. We are wondering if people would be interested in knitted ladies or children's slippers, scarfs, pot holders, etc. that she makes. I told her I would ask here. As she is married, she can no longer work outside of the home except for bake sales, vegetable sales, etc. As they don't have their home, and bake sales already have people-she thought of taking my offer to sell here. All her items would come to me, I would put them on ebay and mail them out when they sold. These items would be handmade by Bridget. This is just talk right now, but she has lots of yarn. What do you think folks ?????
So keep an eye on my ebay store. It will be getting larger with more items.

Please keep checking at the store because I am putting on items as fast I can. Also, please leave a comment regarding your thoughts on Bridget selling some of her homemade items.. Thank you,
Marilyn
Sounds like you are going to be pretty busy!
Bridget's items sound lovely, however I must be honest, I do not have extra spending money for these items. I do know that others will though. And that will be great for her. =)
Hi Vickie,
Thank you. That's what we want to find out. She doesn't want to make a lot of items then not sell.

I started selling on ebay and etsy last November and I am amazed at the things people purchase. I would try everything and anything as you never know what someone might be interested in. Out grown and used Amish/Mennonite clothing I would think would go very nice.
Used crocheted items, hand embroidered items, linens, table linens, wood thread spools, older cooking utensils, non snap wood cloths pins, old patterns buttons. You can list 50 items each month on ebay with out paying a listing fee and this would be a good way to start. I have been making a profit of at least $100 a week selling and love it. You can write to me if you would like. I am retired and love to share any knowledge I might still have in this old brain.
Hi Paula,
I have some of things on your list, that I haven't put on. I better check them out. Bridget does know how to crochet, hand embroider, quilt and more. She loves knitting the best. I am sure if other items would sell, she would make them for the money. I have been on ebay since 1990's. Told her I would be glad to put some in my store to see how they go for her. I may be contacting you Paula.
Thank so much,
Marilyn

Marilyn - Paula above has some pretty good ideas. as for knitted things made by Bridget - i am sure that all kinds of children's clothes would sell...but what i would want for myself and my husband would be knitted cardigans and sweaters...and hats and gloves and socks and slippers and.....hmmmm.....i guess i would be very interested in knitted items - teehee! i will go check your store right now.
your friend,
kymber
This is interesting -I would like to have a look Marilyn- I am sure Bridget makes lovely handicrafts and most people will appreciate the work and time that has gone into producing them- the overseas shipping may count me out though
Hope it will prove to be a success
Fionalina
Hi Kymber and Fionalina,
I will tell Bridget whta you said. We were thinking small things to try to keep the postage now. I did see what Paula had on. She has some real nice things on there. I have some of things she has, but I didn't put them on because I didn't think anyone would want them. I guess I better get them on.

I think that Bridget's idea would certainly be worth trying. She wouldn't have to make too many items until she knows if they'll sell. I also think that a short explanation saying that she's a newly married Mennonite young girl, and she's no longer allowed to work outside the home. That statement would set her apart from the rest and give her a bit of an edge. ~Doreen
Hi Doreen,
Thank you so much, I will tell Bridget. The statement about her being Mennonite and not being able to work outside the home is a great idea. I will tell her.

Ebay to me is for vintage items that I'm not sure how much they are really worth. In the last 2 months I sold 2 pairs of spurs, one pair came out of the junk yard my husband works at and saw in the scrap pile and the other he had for years. Both pair were FREE, I sold one pair for $149 and the other sold for $79. I listed both pair real low but there were so many people interested in them that there were lots of bids. Who would have thought that someone would pay that much money for something in less that perfect condition. I have other items that have made lots more money than I would have ever thought of paying for. People love old lines, old patterns and lots more stuff that I ever thought. I am in no way an expert at this and just starting selling on ebay in November of 2012 and etsy on Jan 6th of this year.
Old non clip clothes pins, I picked up some at an auction twice because I hang out laundry. My daugter suggested I try and sell some on etsy. I sold bags of 50 of them for $9. Tonight I think I will post an article on my blog and some tips I have learned by trial and error over the last 4 months. I so wish that I would have had someone to help me and I am more than glad to share any knowledge from this old brain of mine. Unfortunately people are not always willing to share info and secrets. Check on my blog after tonight and see what I have come up with.

Hi Paula,
I sent you an e-mail and I will check your blog again. I have some old patterns here I never use. I have buttons here. I don't know what all I have. You woke me up to look around and see what else I have.
Thanks,
Marilyn
If anyone is waiting for the 2000 Family Life Magazines or Young Companion, it might take me longer to get them on. My scanner just over heated. I've been working it about 18 hours a day for two days. As soon as it gets going again, I will put the rest of the magazines and my other items on. It just might take longer.
