Weaverland Mennonites dress the same as Jean and David do, but drive cars. The top three pictures show the name of the church, the office and the church. I got the two Bible quotes from in front of a Weaverland Mennonite Home. The name of church is the top picture of the second church, a picture of the church and the building that houses the lawn care equipment.

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you enjoy the pictures of the Weaverland Mennonite churches.
It is another beautiful day today. Is suppose to rain later today and then turn colder, but it is beautiful right now.

For those of you that asked in the previous post, Jean's Black Walnut pie recipe will be on October 23rd. Just wanted to let you all know.

The sign in the first picture shows the services are on Sunday and Wednesday. Do they go to church every Wednesday also?
As we're enjoying this beautiful 70 degree weather, I'm always reminded of 7 years ago when we had a freak snow storm that dumped 12" of snow over night. It was on Friday the 13th and dubbed the "October Surprise Storm". It was only a path of 10 miles wide, and unfortunately I was in the path", and because the leaves were still on the trees, the weight of the snow left downed trees and destruction everywhere. In the middle of the night we woke up to the loud sound of continuous branches cracking. Thousands of trees were destroyed and most of us were without power for a week because the destruction was so vast. It's hard to believe that our area could have that much cold and snow so early. So I'm enjoying every minute of this fantastic weather.

Hi Doreen,
I will have to ask Jean, but she is at church right now, so I can't answer your question until she gets home.
That storm was terrible. I remember that one. I also remember one Halloween, when I had my store, and we were giving out candy to the children. It was in the 80's. I couldn't believe it. I don't think we had a bad snow until December that year.

Hi Doreen,
I got a hold of Jean. Yes, the Weaverland's do have a service on Wednesday. Jean says they are more traditional in that some of them allow TV and music in their home. Some of them allow musical instruments. Also, they encourage youth groups several days a week especially in the summer. Yes, they do drive cars.

I believe what their signs say.
The buildings are very nice, they do seem built in contrast to so many other churches that seem so ornate. That I think, is refreshing! I hope everyone has a wonderful week, and am looking forward to the pie recipe!
Hello Annie,
The churches do look different that you see in many other churches.
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend, too,
Marilyn
I noticed the first sign for Finger Lake doesn't mention it is a Mennonite Church. It is the same way with some around here and in Indiana. While on vacation one year, we went to one (we are independent non-denominational Christian). While we were dressed different, we were welcomed right in. Their service was very much like ours, except the men sat on one side, and the women on another. Since that visit, I have also gone with a friend several times to hers here in Missouri. However, they sit by family and many dress the same as English.
Thank you April for telling us. That is very interesting. I was surprised that it didn't say Mennonite Church. I knew it was Mennonite because I had a Mennonite Map of the churches.

There is a Mennonite church north of us, not far, and it does not say it is one, either...if we get out that way, I will take a picture of it for you.
I would appreciate that, Sue Ann. That's very kind of you.

The first church is not a Mennonite church. I looked on their website, it is most likely a Baptist, and they list their doctrine as Calvinist. They post the website on their sign, so it was not Mennonite. The Mennonite church has a similar name, but is not on Rts 5 & 20, it is further south in Seneca Co I believe.
Hi Anonymous,
I used the Mennonites in New York map to get there and it is listed on the map as one of their churches. On the map it is called Fingerlakes Fellowship Center and it matches the address on the map. Now the map could be wrong, but all updates or corrections, one is suppose to contact Sauder's Store which led me to believe the map is correct. Actually I was on 3403 Rt. 414, Seneca Falls. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying I went to the address on the Mennonite map.
