WANT TO TELL WHAT IS COMING UP !!!!!

Just thought I would tell you a little about what I will be putting on here.  I still have lots of pictures that I took that I was saving up in case I couldn't get out to take pictures.  So I am going to be putting some of those on Fridays. Some are Amish, Mennonite, but most are from the area around here.

The first, I plan on having starting this coming Thursday.  If you like flowers, especially African Violets, you will like this one.  I was at this business back in October.  It will take more than one post to get it all on - so it will probably Thursday thru Saturday.

Also, plan on putting on a post of the Erie Canal that I was going to put on last summer.  I finally got the pictures of the Canal Museum that is in our town.  That also, will take more than one post.

Last fall, I took pictures of the car show we had for Canal Town Days and still have a lot of those pictures to get on.

Took pictures of Amish and Mennonite farms that I never got on, so I want to get them on.

Also have pictures of the moon that I took one afternoon and evening that you might find interesting.

Today, I am going out to take some pictures of churches as I am getting low.  I do have a couple, I am keeping in case I can't get out sometime and need one.  By the way, if any of you have pictures of your church that you would like on here, please let me know.  I would be glad to put them on here.

Some of the pictures that I have, go back to 2012, so I guess it's time that I get them on.  Of course, I will be putting new pictures on as I get them, too.  I just think it's time I cleaned out all the back ones out to give me more room for future pictures.

PLEASE READ:

I just got a bomb this morning, after I put this post on.  Jean called and she is thinking of leaving New York State of Mind, at least for a while, if not forever.  She believes that she has run out of things to talk about and that she has told us all that would interest us.  I disagreed with her.
Monday will be Jean's last post for a while.  She thinks that we should have Elmer on, in her place, to tell of his Amish ways.  Many of their ways are similar.  I haven't spoken to Elmer yet.  I am still in shock.  I wasn't expecting this.

Good Morning,

Hope you like what is coming on. I don't know why I held some of these pictures so long. So it is house cleaning time.

It is in the 30's right now, suppose to be in the 40's today and then it drops.

I am very sad to hear that Jean may not submit anymore posts. I read Richard's blog and now this one for a number of years. I've referred a number of people to this blog. There is no other group of people that I admire more than the Amish and Mennonites. And I love reading about their day to day life and how they do or don't do things. They are a great example of how I think we all should live,

Personally, if I had a choice, I would prefer posts from Jean and the others and nothing more.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Jean is probably leaving - maybe if she just took a break for awhile, she might eventually change her mind - I just hope we hear from someone in her family as I am sure I speak for many that we have grown to truly care for all of them. I hope Elmer continues to step in as well.

Hello Gary and Laura,

This was a shock to me this morning. I don't want her to leave, either. Elmer and Martha said they would take over, but it won't be the same without Jean.

I came up with the idea that she take a couple of months off and then maybe come back one day a month. She is thinking about it.

The reason this blog was started is because we wanted Jean to continue after Richard wanted to change Amish stories now Pure Country Living.

I will not stop New York State of Mind if Jean leaves, but I am trying to work something out so she stays.

She could give you recipes to post. Love the recipes. Does she have one for doughnuts?

Maybe she could post like every three months. ask her to please not go. Alene

Hi Alene,

She has doughnut recipes as she put them on a while back. I can't remember if it was here or on Amish Stories, but I will see if I can get her to do it again.

Oh, I have asked her not o go many times today. I am trying to see if she took a couple of months off, would she consider once a month. She is thinking about it.

My perspective is that you need to honor Jean's decision without pressuring her to give more. I know people enjoy reading about the Amish and Mennonite way of life, but to those people groups their lifestyle is personal choice and is the 'normal' they know and not something that needs to be made a spectacle of. How do I know? I have an Amish and Mennonite heritage that I value greatly.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for your comment. I do not think we are making a spectacle of Jean, I think we are curious of the way she and her family live. To know more and better understand. I know it is hard to let someone go, especially Jean, as she is like a member of our family. I will not force Jean to do anything she doesn't one to do.

Hello Everyone,

I have a post from Jean for Monday.

Because of Jean leaving, I just don't feel like putting on the flowers for next weekend. I will put something else on and the flowers later on.

Looking forward to seeing more of your photos.
I have enjoyed Jean's posts so much, and did on Richard's blog to begin with. I will miss her contributions, but she must decide what is right, for her. Thank you for sharing so many great recipes, and posts on this blog!

I will pass your message on to Jean. I know she will really appreciate them.

I'm really sad to hear about Jean leaving and I hope she'll be back after a while. Her posts are so important to me. She is such a great example for us to follow by showing us a Christian and loving way to lead our lives. I'm sure that sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming to think of something to write, and I can understand that, but please let her know how much we look forward to her posts.

Hi Doreen,
I am really sad about this too. I believe she showed us a Christian and loving way to lead our lives, too. I will let her know how much everyone looks forward to her posts.
