ANNA TELLS OF: URTICARA ANGIOEDEMA

Someone asked about information regarding urticara angioedema which is a chronic hives or rash and swelling.  Now, I am not a doctor.  This person has been to their physician, but I advise anyone to check with their doctor.  Anything here that you decide to use, you use at your own risk.

Urticara angioedema lasts about six weeks and can be caused by foods, medicine., latex, infections, insect bites or internal diease.  That is why I highly recommend your seeing your physician to find what the cause is.

The most common foods that cause hives are: chocolate, nuts, fish, tomatoes, eggs, fresh berries, soy wheat and milk.  Most often it is fresh foods that cause an allergy than cooked foods.

Drugs most common that can cause hives are:  aspirin, painkiller with codine, anti-inflammatory medication or high blood pressure medication.

If it lasts more than six weeks, it most likely is chronic utricaria or physical urticaria.    Skin tests and blood tests are needed to determine the cause. Again, you need to see your physician.

What you can do if you have hives or a rash.  First, DO NOT SCRATCH.  Scratching does not help and can cause to make the situation worse.  Also:
Use lukewarm water NOT hot water when washing or bathing
Use gentle, mild soup
Apply cool compresses or wet cloth compresses on the affected area
Try to work and sleep in a cool room
Wear lose - fitting lightweight clothes.

I have a lot of home remedies I could suggest for this.  But over the years, I have found that Vitamin B or Vitamin E applied on the rash seems to be what helps the most.  You can go to the drug store and buy either Vitamin B or Vitamin E capsules.  Break open the capsule and apply the content on the rash or hives.

Again, I am not a doctor.  Anything you do that I have on here is at your own risk.  I would check with your physician.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Anna

Good morning, Marilyn. I have heard of using Vitamin E before. The first and only time I had hives, the doctor gave me industrial strength benadryl. I didn't scratch, only because I slept for the next 5 days!! LOL

Good Morning Angela,

I had shingles once. Went to the doctor who gave me some pills, but I ended up in the hospital emergency two days later. Benadryl didn't work so the emergency doctor gave me something else. It worked great, but like you, I was out for almost a week.

Anna, your knowledge of these things and your willingness to share what you know is appreciated! It just may be something that will help one of the readers!

Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,

Will see that Anna gets your message. Someone asked about these hives that's why Anna put it on. Panic Attacks was something she thought everyone should know they are not the only ones that have it.

My daughter has peanut, tree nut, fish and seafood allergies. She also tested postive to everything except turkey and chocolate, LOL. This summer she has been taking swim lessons 4 times a week. We also have a garden and she loves fresh bell peppers and tomatoes. This summer she has gotten hives and what looks like eczema all over her legs and arms with a bit on her chest and face. I'm sure it's a combo between garden and swimming. She now takes a shower at the pool when finished and again later in the evening. The hives/rash are looking better. I applied a bit of hydrocortisone cream on her legs and arms and they look nearly cleared. She's back to swim lessons today so I'm sure she will have outbreaks : / last 2 weeks for lessons. also limited her to one fresh tomato every 3 days.

Good Morning dayna64,
I feel so sorry for your daughter. Do like that she doesn't have an allergy against chocolate. LOL Thank you for the information you gave. Maybe it will help someone else. I wonder if it is something in the water that gives her hives when she goes swimming.
