ELMER'S POST

Sorry, we have gotten so far behind in posts.  It seems after the farming came the weddings and we had quite a few to attend.  Of course, we had to get everything set up and put away for the winter.  Also checked to make sure everything worked properly for the spring.

Right now, Anna and I are at Pinecraft in Florida.  As Michael's birthday and my birthday is on October 31st, we have had our birthday's together since he first came to Jean's as a foster child.  This year, he was in Florida with Aunt Olive and Uncle Albert.  Michael called and said he would miss me on our birthday this year.

Anna and I started to think after that phone call.  Michael has been through a lot during the past year - some not so good and some real good.  We talked with Jean and David, who are now Michael's parents.  To make a long story short, Anna and I decided to go surprise Michael on our birthday.

Anna and I went down by Amtrak.  We got there a day ahead of our birthday, so we spent that night at Bishop Eli's parents cottage.  Figured if Michael saw the lights on our cottage, he would come to check out who was there.

After he went to work the next day, we moved into out cottage.  During the day, we spoke with Olive and Albert to make arrangements on how to surprise Michael.  It came dinner and Olive had made up Michael's favorite dinner.  Right before sitting down to dinner Anna and I knocked on the front door.  When Michael opened the door, he was in shock.  He just stood there and didn't say a thing.  Olive said, aren't you going to invite them in.  Michael finally let us in and asked if we had done this for him.  I said sure we did.  What's our birthday without each other.

After dinner, we had birthday cake that Olive had made.  Anna and I had brought birthday cards from his family and some baked goods from his Mother (Jean).  We also brought him a couple of gifts from us.  He felt bad he had no gifts for me and I told him the look on his face when he opened the door was worth more than any gift he could buy.  We spent the evening talking and playing checkers.  When it came to playing darts, Olive put us out of her house.  Not on her walls !!!!!  So went over to our cottage and played.  Then went back to Olive's for the second piece of birthday cake.  Needless to say we all had a great time.

So Anna and I are in Pinecraft.  We will be back up north before Thanksgiving to be with out family..  Right now, we are discussing renting out cottage to Michael when we or our family is not here.  Olive and Albert agree that he is ready for a place of his own.

Someone else is having a birthday on November 21st.  She will be 70.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Elmer
