UNUSUAL AMISH FARM HOUSE

When I came across this house, I thought it was an Englisher's.  Elmer and Anna were with me and when we stopped to talk with another Amish man, Elmer found out that this house was built for a newly wed Amish couple.  Tom, the Backroads Traveller sent us the second picture that he took while the house was under construction.  I thank you Tom, for the picture.

    Good Morning Everyone,
    This house is different than most Amish houses that you see.

    It is in the 20's right now, but we are suppose to get lots of snow starting this weekend.

    Martha will be doing a post this Monday.

    I wonder if they'll add a porch when the house is finished. It looks much too plain for an Amish house.

    It does look plain for Amish house. Even Elmer thought it was an Englisher's house at first. I will keep an eye on it and see if they add a porch. Maybe when spring comes.

    it's different isn't it? maybe just so much smaller than we usually think of, and with a smaller out building, might be perfect for just starting out though. looking forward to more of your posts!

    It is different than most. It is a nice starting out home. They can always add on to it.

    I have passed this house many times and remember when they moved the shed onto the property before starting construction. In many Amish communities this small house is often called a "shop house." Many young couples will build a small starter house and when more money if available in the future a large house will be built. Then the shop house will be used as a shop.

    Thank you Tom for the additional photo while the house was being built. It is neat to see the photos for me. I also like seeing the house being built and than growing from house to home. I have not yet seen a rancher home for a family that was not "English".

    I think it is beautiful. I enjoy all the photos

    That was the first ranch home I had seen that wasn't Englisher, too. I think it was nice that Tom gave us the additional photo.
