This is the last of the Haiti Auction quilts that I took pictures on. Hope you have enjoyed them all. Tomorrow is the last of the items that they auctioned - no quilts in that one.
Good Morning Marilyn, The sixth photo is "Light in the Valley" a wonderful quilt pattern with an interesting story of greed. Check out this stroy.http://lancasteronline.com/news/local/copyrighted-quilts-lawyers-put-shops-fire-companies-and-mud-sales/article_a61d6ac2-9292-11e3-960c-001a4bcf6878.html
These quilts are beautiful. I loved the one Tom call the Light in the Valley and the red flowered one in the picture right above it. But, I was very sad to read the article he provided the link to. Part of me understands wanting to protect your original designs, but, on the other hand . . . I think it is a bit too much.
It is sad. The Amish and Mennonites have been making quilts for years. They even interchanged patterns among each other. It is sad that you can't even buy the pattern.
Good Morning Everyone,
ReplyDeleteWell, here is the second set and the last set of quilts on here for Haiti Auction.
It is going to be in the 50's today !!!!! Of course it is going down tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteSuch a shame that not even the pattern can be purchased. It is such an intricate design and so beautiful!
