First Lutheran Church is on Broad Street, Lyons, New York. The church is located on the site of one of the four parks, laid out by surveyors of the Village of Lyons. Originally owned by the First Presbyterian Church, they sold their building to the Lutherans in 1849. A fire destroyed that church in 1885.. The present building was erected the same year and is a modified Romanesque structure that replicates the original Parish Church Building for the original immigrants from Alsace-Lorraine.
The present pastor has been there since July 1, 1958.
The last pictures tells you what was going on in the back of the church. I will have pictures for you starting on Thursday.
WOW, The same pastor since 1958! Marilyn have a lovely day. Tom The Backroads Traveller
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Tom,
ReplyDeleteYes, I even checked to make sure what I read was true - and it is - since 1958. Hope you have a lovely day, too.

A beautiful church, but I'm looking forward to seeing the quilts. What a great find.

Thank you, Doreen. You have to read all these ladies do and how many they make a year. I will have it on the post. That was a great find.

Thank you so much of photos of churches. I miss my old church in NY
ReplyDeleteLong Island. Here in the midwest the churches are more modern.
Good Morning Gisela,
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the photos of churches. We are getting more modern ones here in some places, too. But, I like the older ones best.
