Thomas called me this morning. He has a rye sense of humor. Thomas told me, as I said before, his future wife does not want to use her real first name on New York State of Mind, and I understand that. As yet, she has not picked a named and Thomas is getting tired of having her Thomas' lady. So he came up with the idea of seeing if the people on New York State of Mind could come up with a name for his soon to be wife, that she approves.
Now here are the rules: Most Old Order Mennonite and Amish names are from the Bible, so Thomas would like it to be a name from the Bible. Also, it must be a name different from anyone else's on New York State of Mind.
I asked Thomas if he has her permission and he put her on the phone - she agreed to this. So here is a bit about her. She is 18 years old, as is Thomas. Of course she is Old Order Mennonite as is Thomas. She is a hard worker, Thomas says. She is kind and does for others. Also, she does quilting, sewing, canning, crochet, and more. What put her at the top of my list is she loves dogs and cats - especially dogs.
So here it goes. What do you think her name should be?
From the Book of Job- In all the land there were none so fair as the daughter's of Job. His first born was Jemimah. That is what I would call her.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning SueAnn,
ReplyDeleteThank you. That is a very nice name.
Marilyn
Abigail popped into my mind - maybe she would like that.
ReplyDeleteMary
Good Morning Mary,
ReplyDeleteThat is a real nice name, too. I also thought Mary would be a nice name. Of course, that was my Mother's name.
Marilyn
what about Dinah who was the daughter of Jacob and sister of Joseph?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Kymber,
ReplyDeleteDinah is beautiful name, too.
Marilyn
Ruth. I know Ruth in the Bible was speaking to her mother-in-law when she said, “Entreat me not to leave you,
ReplyDeleteOr to turn back from following after you;
For wherever you go, I will go;
And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;
Your people shall be my people,
And your God, my God.", but that is what Thomas' lady is doing also. She is coming to live where Thomas is.
Good Morning Vickie,
ReplyDeleteThat, too, is a beautiful name. I use to have an Aunt Ruth. Also, remember that Bible quote.
Marilyn
Well, Vickie, you beat me to it😄. I would also suggest Ruth. "Great minds think alike"! LOL. Blessings all, Carol
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Carol,
ReplyDeleteVickie, beat you this morning. That name also reminds me of a friend of mine who was ordained a minister. He asked his wife what she thought of the ordination
and she gave him the quote that Vickie had. Her name wasn't Ruth, though.
Marilyn
I like the name, Esther, and it has become more popular in the last few years than in a long time.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning magnoliasntea,
ReplyDeleteEsther is a beautiful name, also.
Marilyn
Hi Marilyn! I like the name Miriam, or Mary!(This is fun!)
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Diann,
ReplyDeleteGlad you think it is fun. Thomas thought it might be, too. I like the names you chose, too.
Marilyn
Good Marilyn, the first name that popped into my head was Ruth. But I also love the name Sarah. My Grandmother was Ruth and my mother-in-law was Sarah. Two beautiful women in my life. Have a wonderful day! Cathy in Webster
ReplyDeleteOh my, in my head it is faster than my fingers type!! Good Morning Marilyn!!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Cathy,
ReplyDeleteRuth is a great name. I like Sarah, too, but we already have a Sarah on New York State of Mind. Both Sarah and Ruth are beautiful women.
Hope you have a wonderful day, too,
Marilyn
Hi Folks,
ReplyDeleteKeep those names coming in!! I have to go to the hospital for some tests. No, I am not sick, just for my annual physical with the doctor. So, I will be off for while, but I will see that Thomas and his lady get all your names.
Marilyn
I always liked the name Leah, I think Jacob's wife. I knew a Leah years ago, as a fellow Girls Scout Leader, fun and very caring.
ReplyDeleteWhile I don't have a suggestion, I like everyone elses. I may be partial to Dinah (; but that woudn't be my first choice. It will be fun to see what Thomas and his lady choose.
ReplyDeleteRuth - strong with a servants heart and followed/trusted God's directives to her. Thanks for the fun participation! Deb
ReplyDeleteHi Folks,
ReplyDeleteI am back. Keep those names coming.
Marilyn
Hephzibah - "My delight is in her"
ReplyDeleteHi Heritage Hall,
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful name and I like the meaning.
Marilyn
Hello Folks,
ReplyDeleteKeep names coming. Here is the status so far. One of the names put on here is her real name. I said no one would know if it is her real name or not, I wouldn't tell. But she still wants to see if she gets more names. She said she would decide on Friday what would name she would use on New York State of Mind. So keep those names coming in.
Marilyn
This is so funny - I was just thinking about that and wondered if one of us had suggested a name that was her real name. Here's another - Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteMary
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteYes, someone suggested her real name. I think that is funny, too. Elizabeth is another great name.
Marilyn
Hi Folks,

Marilyn

ReplyDeleteLaura
