CONSTRUCTION OF THE ERIE CANAL









These are pictures that we taken during the construction of the Erie Canal and the Barge Canal.  Picture five shows some tools used during the construction.  These were taken in Newark Museum.

  2. Ah yes, "Clinton's Ditch". Progressive thinking for sure, but it certainly served its intended purpose in its day. History-a very important part of learning at any age. Thanks for the pics Marilyn. Carol

    You are most welcome for the pictures. It did serve it's purpose and is now serving again as a great tourist attraction. People now come from around the world to walk it, drive it, or boat it.
