ANNA ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS

I thought this week, I would answer some of your questions.  So here I go.

The first was if my greenhouse could withstand the snow and the long cold winter.  Yes, is the answer to that.  After I calmed down when I got my greenhouse, Elmer told me how he happened to get the one he did.  When he went to buy the greenhouse, he thought all of them were alike.  Well he was wrong.  There are square ones, round ones, additions to the house and more.  He tried to figure who would know about greenhouses.  He thought of a couple people that had one greenhouse and then he thought - Jean has three.  She should know.  So Jean, David and Elmer went to pick it out.  They went to the place that David bought Jean's at.  David told Elmer they all looked alike to him when he bought Jean's first greenhouse, too.  So he finally went home and got her to pick out what she wanted.  Elmer said Jean looked at them all.  The one she selected for me was the type she selected for herself.  Elmer paid the bill and had it delivered to our old farm.  How he got that delivered and I didn't know about it is beyond me.

What kind of lavender do I grow and use,  The main lavender I grow and use is English lavender, but I also grown French and Spanish Lavender that I also use.

Someone asked what I use some certain herbs for.

Jewelweed - can be used for a yellow dye, poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac, fungal skin, nail infections, ringworm which causes athlete's foot.

Evening Primrose - helps control those with alcoholism, depression, rheumatoid arthritis, reduce cholesterol, immune system, and helps skin.

Coconut Oil - helps prevent liver diease, helps relieve kidney stones, helps prevent excess weight, softens skin, helps control dandruff, helps kill virus,

Melatonin can be found in both animals and plants.  I use plants.  Melatonin can be found in feverfew, St. John's Wort, rice, cherries. corn, tomatoes, grapes, bananas and more.  If you are diabetic - DO NOT use melatonin as it can affect problems.  It is used for sleeping, anti-aging, autism, immune system, heart, liver, depression, improve memory in Alzheimer Diease, headaches, mood control.

NOTE: I am not a licensed doctor so please check with your physician before you use any of these herbs.  You use these at your own risk.

Another question was will I tell you about John's wedding.  I will be glad to.  It's funny between Elmer and I as it was kind of hard on us when our first child got married and now our last one is getting married.  The last will be moving out of our house - again.  The great part is they all live close and we get to see them very often.

We are so glad that we have our children and all 49 grandchildren near us.  Elmer can't believe that I can remember whose is whose, their name, age and when their birthday is.

Well I hope that I answered some of your questions.  Please feel free to ask questions so I know what to give a post about.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Anna

ELMER FOUND OUT WHAT MADE JOHN SICK

We finally found out what was making John so sick.  Even though Eli's friend had offered to switch farms with John - John wanted to keep the farm he had purchased, if he could.  I understand him, because I think back to the first farm we owned.  Then we moved to two states, then back to Pennsylvania and bought the same farm we started from again.  So we had to see if we could find what was wrong and if we could correct it so John could keep the farm.  Even if Eli's son owned that farm, it would mean that John couldn't go into his best friends house.

Problem being, at this time, John is going through that age when he knows everything and us older folks don't know anything.  So when the doctor results of all the tests that John had taken came through, John did not go along with them.  It ended with the doctor saying if John had been working in the house for two months and this recently started, he believed that John's health problems was do to something he put in the house and not something that was in the house.  Doctor suggested more tests, which John wanted to think about.

Finally, after getting John's permission, I called a company from Rochester, New York to come in and test the house.  While we were waiting for them to come, we got all the receipts for what we put in our house and John got his receipts out for all he put in his house.  There had to be something that was in his house that wasn't in ours.  He could breath in our house.  Also Eli's son got his receipts for what he had put in his house as he had remodeled his and John could breath in his house.  Nothing that would effect John's health was in any of our receipts.

The company came from Rochester and ran all sorts of tests.  They ran the tests through and called us on my cell phone (with Eli's permission).  The said there was no asbestos, black mold, etc.  Whatever it was - was something that he put in the house.  Then they said: they are not doctors, but could it be the insulation.  John said no.

That evening, we were all at our house and tried to decide what was different in the insulation that was in the three houses.  We had our insulation blown in our house, Eli's son had his blown in his house, but John was putting his in his house.  Off we went to John's house.  He hadn't been in it since he got sick.  He walked in the door and started sneezing.  We got him out immediately.  He stopped.  All of us went to where he stored the insulation that he hadn't put in the house yet.  Soon as he walked in, he started sneezing.  We got him out immediately.

Next day, Eli and his and John's friends went over to the house and took down the walls and took out the insulation.  I called the company in Rochester and they sent a crew down to put something on the walls that made sure all the insulation was out.  They also took out the rest of the insulation that John had stored.  After they left, we took John into the house and he could breath.  The next day he went there to work for a few hours to make sure and he was just fine.  So now, we are waiting for the people that blew the insulation in our house and Eli's son's house to blow it into John's house.

We finally got to the bottom of this with John and he was trying to save money.  Putting in the insulation is less expensive than having it blown in.  In the end, it cost more money than if he had let them blow it in to begin with.  There is something that is in the insulation that he was putting in that is not in the insulation that is blown in that he is allergic to.

After service Sarah's Father slipped me an envelope with some money in it for John.  I told him, it was John's problem, but he said it will be his daughter's home too.  It had the money in it to pay  for having the insulation blown into the house.  Anna and I paid the bills for the company from Rochester.  Bishop Eli went to the hospital to pay John's hospital and doctor bill.  Anna and I offered to pay it, but Eli said no.  He said to think of all the donations we had made over the years - now it was time for John to receive.  The only loss John has is for the original insulation that he bought.  He said  he won't forget that.

Eli and I were talking about this.  Eli told me to enjoy that John admits that I am right, he was wrong as we may not have this happen again for a long time.

Elmer

TONIGHT'S FULL MOON

We have a full moon tonight and I took these pictures.  The first four were when it was getting dark and the last four are when it was dark.

THE UNITED CHURCH, CANANDAIGUA, NEW YORK

The United Church of Canandaigua is a Presbyterian and American Baptist Church.  The current church was built in 1871, but the religion goes back much further than that.  Having been inside this church that some friends of my regularly attend, I note the seats.  There are regular seats on the left side of the church, regular seats on the right side of the church and small seats in the center.  I was explained that when this church was built, ladies sat on one side, men on the other and children in the center.  Of course times have changed and anyone can sit where they want.

WAYNE COUNTY FAIR - QUILTS

As you can see there are many different quilts at the fair.  I am sorry there was a fence all around them, but if they didn't, people would walk off with items that were not theirs.  It's sad but true.  The last one was raffled off.  I did not win.  Darn.  These show that the Amish and Mennonites are not the only ones that make quilts.

FEARLESS BABY BIRD

This little baby bird is fearless.  Our maintenance man came and had to walk around the little bird, it wouldn't move.  We thought it was hurt, but it isn't.  Later in the day, I went out and there was our fearless bird with another member of his family.  When I got to close, one of them flew but fearless stayed there.  He can fly because when he decides to move on - he flies away.
