JEAN'S APPLE-STUFFED ACORN SQUASH

JEAN'S APPLE - STUFFED ACORN SQUASH

1/4 cup raisins
2 acorn squash (about 4 inches in diameter)
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 Tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
2 medium apples
2 Tablespoons butter

Cover raisins with warm water and soak 20 minutes - drain.  Meanwhile preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Cut acorn squash into quarters and remove seeds.  Brush inside of each squash quarter with half of butter.  Mix sugar and cinnamon.  Sprinkle squash quarters with half of cinnamon mixture.  Bake 10 minutes.

While baking, cut apples into quarters and remove cores.  Chop apples into 1/2 inch pieces.  Combine remaining melted butter, apples, raisins and remaining cinnamon mixture in large bowl, mix well.  Take squash from oven and top with equal amounts of apple mixture, making sure to scrape saucepan well.  Return squash to oven and bake 30 to 35 minutes or until apples and squash are tender.  Serve warm.

QUILT SALE - ST JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH - PART 2

As you can see, they not only had large quilts but baby quilts,  and pillows.  I purchased the quilt in picture 5 for a friend of mine for Christmas.  Those are her favorite colors.  Her Birthday is first, so I might not be able to hold it until Christmas. I paid $25.00 for her quilt.  The children's quilts were $20.00 and the pillows were $5.00.  Also, I purchased a handmade pot holder, but I forgot to take pictures of them.  Their quilt sale is done for this year, but they plan on having it again next year.

MARTHA GIVES US A POST

Jean, Elmer, Bishop Eli and my husband Bishop Joseph said I hadn't done a post on here in a while and I better get one here.

Joseph and I enjoyed our trip to Pinecraft and thank all the people that contributed to it.  We had a great, relaxed time.  Fannie and Olive saw that we ate well.  We thank Grandmother Olive and Grandfather Albert for giving us their cottage to use.  They aren't really my Grandparents, but as Jean is my best friend and their her Grandparents - they sort of adopted me.

Our biggest surprise was Martha Anne's arrival.  We were sleeping when the phone rang.  Joseph answered it and said that Kevin was on the phone. Of course, being parents, we sometimes think the worse as Kevin and Bridget were taking care of the other children at home - especially in the middle of the night.  I heard Joseph say : "You're kidding." Then he got a big grin.  He turned to me and told me we had another grandchild.  I asked who are the parents?  He said Kevin and Bridget.  My reply was that their baby wasn't do yet.  It wasn't do until December.  Joseph informed me she was here and her name was Martha Anne.  I demanded he give me the phone.  Kevin went through it all again telling me Martha and Bridget were fine.  I was concerned about them being at the hospital,  he said it was just to be safe.  My Mother got on the phone and assured me everything was fine.

It wasn't until after I hung up that I realized that they named the baby after Bridget's Mother and myself.  Joseph said he thought it would take me a few minutes to get that.  So we called Kevin and Bridget back.

We wanted to come right home, but with Hurricane Mathew, we were advised to stay and did.  We finally got home last Saturday and went right to Kevin and Bridget's to see our new Granddaughter.  Martha is beautiful and so wonderful to hold.

We finally got home.  Lovina and our daughters had dinner ready for us.  It is always nice to leave home, but it is always nice to come home especially when there is a new granddaughter waiting for you.

QUESTIONS AGAIN, TODAY

I collect, buy and sell handkerchiefs and aprons.  Most of mine are purchased at church rummage sales, peoples garage sales, estates, barns sales, etc.

Sometimes I get some beautiful hankies that have holes, edges are giving, large age spots, etc.  They are beautiful hankies, but I can't put them on to sell.  Most have flowers, but some have initials, hearts, and I don't know what all. Does anyone do craft work that could use these?  I hate to just throw them out.

Also, I have lots of hankies like the above picture,  that have beautiful handmade crochet or other craft edges.  They are in excellent condition, but they don't sell.  I have put many of them on to sell and people just don't buy them for some reason.

I also have some of the hankies like that picture of above with age spots, holes, etc.  Could someone use them?

I prefer to send them in the U.S. only because of the cost of postage.  I just want to give them away.  If you want to pay postage - fine.  If you can't that's okay, too.  Just want them to get good homes where they will used and enjoyed.

BARNS - AGAIN

I took these barn pictures back on November 4, 2015.  Thought it was about time I got them on here. I save some pictures, just in case - but I think I held these too long.

AMISH FARM

These Amish Farm pictures were taken back in March.  You will notice the snow in picture seven.  Funny, it is not in the rest of the pictures.

FALL FOLIAGE

I went out today for something else, but took pictures of our fall foliage.  Hope you enjoy them.  I have more pictures to show you.
