MARTHA IS COMING, TOO !!!!

Martha called me this morning and told me how much she liked Richard's post today and said she would come to New York State of Mind, if I wanted her, too.  I more than welcomed her.  Martha is also Old Order Mennonite as is Jean, but Martha was not always.  She was an Englisher, like we are, and coverted to Old Order Mennonite.  She, her husband and children also own a Dairy Farm in Finger Lakes area of New York State.  Jean, Martha and their families are very close friends.  So if you have any questions for Martha, please leave them in comments.  Martha will not be on weekly as Jean is, but her posts will come as she has questions to answer, or as she said, she has something to say.

Also coming is Sara, the Old Order Mennonite who is a Foster Parent as are Martha and Jean.  If anyone has questions for her, she would be glad to do another post or two.  She will not be on weely as Jean, but as she gets questions, will be glad to answer them.  Sara gets the most difficult or special foster children.  As with Martha and Jean, many of her Foster Children are adopted and become members of their family-for ever - as the children say.

So if you have any questions for Jean, Martha or Sara, please leave them in your comments.  It gives them subjects on which to post.  Sometimes, Jean especially, wonders what to do a post about.  She doesn't know what you would be interested in.

Starting in January, we have a lot coming.

Recipes start December 12th, so keep posted.  A new recipe every day including Christmas Eve.

I hope they share some bread recipes, and some cooking with a wood cookstove. We are hooking up a wood cookstove in the basement. I have never cooked on one, but do recall my Grandmother using it. We will use it for a back up as our electric is often out during bad weather. I'd also like some cast iron desert recipes. And, I'd like to see lots and lots of pictures!!!

Hi April, I spoke with Jean. She learned to cook on a gas stove. The one in their house now is electric. So she is going to check with her grandmother and Amish neighbors to see if someone that used one or uses one would give her information or maybe do a post here. I want to get lots more pictures on here. I have very few pictures now, but plan on getting out to get more pictures. I was going tomorrow, but it looks like rain. It will take me a while to build them up, but I do plan on having lots more pictures.

Just came back from out taking some pictures for future posts. I got pictures of the school Susan,, Jean's daughter, goes to. I have to get permission before I can put them on. Also, got some farm pictures. The library that Jean takes her children, I got that, too. I did not get one picture of a buggy. Not one. I couldn't find one. They were either in a barn and the pictures did not come out or I did not see any. That's what I really went out for was pictures of buggys. But I did find other things for posts starting in January.

Hey folks..... Marilyn I'm sure a good amount of readers are wondering a little what Susan's school looks like, and some of the places that were talked about in Jeans post's on my own blog.

So it’s a good thing and I will be watching for these images myself here on New York. Richard

After taking my computer and showing the pictures of the school to Jean, the deacons, ministers and Bishop, I got approved to put them on New York State of Mind. So there is going to be a little story with them. I pushed my luck and asked the Bishop if I could be taken in the school sometime when the students weren't there to take pictures of the inside. They are still thinking about that. Let me know what other places you would like pictures of and I will see if I can get them.
