NEW YORK STATE HAITI BENEFIT AUCTION - POST 1

This is the first auction building and I am showing just some of the items that were up for auction.  David, Jean, Edward and Michael all made or grew items for these auctions. I really liked the dog house at the bottom, but Pierre would never fit in there-they didn't make this item someone else did.

Good Morning Everyone,
These are just a few of the items that were up for auction. It was really interesting watching these items auctioned off. I want to save some money for next year so I can buy something nice.

Great pictures Marilyn Thanks for sharing with us. I wish I could of went to the auction also. I mapped it out and it is 21/2 hours from where I live so I may consider it next year. The weather is a bit cooler this morning but the sun is shining here in St. Catharines. I have a question are all the items that are auctioned made by the Mennonites or do any English get involved? I also had a question for Jean Does she make most of her jams to keep on the shelf. I have only made freezer jam but I am think I would like another method. Thanks for everything and have a wonderful day. God Bless and I am praying for all of you!!!!!

It looks like there were a lot of nice items to be auctioned. I wish I could have gone, but there will be other years that I'm sure I'll be able to. I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. Thank you for taking them.

Hi Veronica,
Hope you can make it next year. If you want to stay over there are motels and camping places near there. According to the brochure they gave out with the items for auction it tells of the generous donations of area individuals and businesses, so I would assume Englishers donated, too. There were a lot of items that could have been English donated-that wasn't handmade or grown such as farm machinery, games, lamps, etc. I know Jean makes lots of jams jellies that she keeps on her shelves in the basement or in her pantry. I am trying to get Jean's grandmother to put on a post about canning, but as yet we have no date. Jean said if her grandmother didn't do it-she would. It would take more than one post to tell it all.

God Bless,
Marilyn

Hi Doreen,
More pictures are coming. I think I have three posts on this week, plus I have more to put on. I know your responsabilities so maybe you can make it in the future. July 1st, Jean is going to have a post on about the Haiti Auction. I guess we are doing it backwards and should have done the post first and the pictures second.

Hello Folks,
The week beginning July 8th will be canning week. Starting on Monday, Jean's Grandmother Olive will start talking about canning of fruits, vegetables, meats, jams, jellies and more. As many days that week it takes, she gets. We will also have post days on slaughtering chickens and turkeys that some of you requested, we don't know when. We felt canning should go first. If you have any canning questions, please feel free to leave them now so that Grandmother Olive can answer them.
