JEAN - MICHAEL AND EDWARD'S CROPS - COURT AND MORE

I know the above isn't a quilt.  If you have seen the May 20th post where Michael and Edward were plowing, you know that it was all dry land.  Well, this is what it looks like now.  The crops are coming up well.  Right now Michael and David are doing most of the work because, as I mentioned in a previous post, Edward fell while coming up the cellar stairs and broke his ankle. Poor Edward was coming up, when Susan opened the door and started charging down.  She and Edward collided. Edward lost his balance and in trying to regain it, broke his ankle.  I only knew what happened when I heard Katie scream at the top of the stairs. Katie wasn't hurt, she just saw the whole thing and screamed when they both fell.

When we saw the break in Edward's ankle, we called the ambulance.  David went with it.  My parents stayed with the rest of the children while Michael and I went to the hospital.  Hospital kept Edward over night, but sent him home the next day.  Edward for, back reasons, can not walk on crutches, so right now he is in a wheel chair except for going into the bedroom, bathroom, etc. - then he can use the walker.  In a few weeks they are going to change the cast and put on a walking cast.

Susan felt so bad about the fall.  We explained it was an accident, but also explained on being careful on the stairs.  She was sure Edward would be mad at her when he got home.  Edward forgave her fast and told her to be more careful.  We have Edward in our bedroom on the first floor, so he doesn't have to climb the stairs.  As he can't go out in the fields, he has taken it upon himself to do some of the cooking and baking in the kitchen.  He sure can swing that wheel chair around.

Hope you enjoyed Elmer's post.  Marilyn said he is going to do another one about the separation between the Mennonites and Amish.  Before Elmer puts the post on, he wants his Bishop and our Bishop to read it and make any changes necessary.  Also he doesn't want any problems or hard feelings.

As far as our Foster Children, they have checked: both our records, bank accounts, references, etc.  What surprised them was that each of the children have a bank account where the check we receive from Foster Children goes every month.  We do not spend that check.  All expenses are paid by David and myself.  We do not take government checks, but the state says we have to - so we put the money in each child's account.  When they get married or twenty-one, which ever happens first, we will give them the money.  Our attorney feels that this whole thing may be thrown out of court, but as yet it hasn't, and we have a court date for later this month.  I can't go into anymore detail than this,  as the attorney asked us not to. We thank you so much for your prayers and thoughts.

I guess I have told your the latest of what is going on at our house.

Be With God,
Jean

ELMER IS BACK NEXT MONDAY ON THE FOUNDING OF THE MENNONITE AND AMISH RELIGIONS.

Thank you so much, Fionalina. I will tell Jean what you said. Edward is a worker, even with a broken ankle. He is going to have a recipe on here in a week or two.

So great to hear from you today Jean. The boys crops look wonderful. I am sure they have learned many things about what it takes to farm the land. I am not a farmer but my husband would love to be. We have much respect for those that farm the land as it is not an easy way of life. Great to hear that Edward is coming along with his ankle. I am sure once he gets the walking cast there will be no holding him down. I am sure Susan felt terrible about the accident on the stairs but these things happen sometimes. It is great to know that your attorney is doing all he can to bring to an end the situation with the courts. I am wondering how things are with Katie Ann? Well it was great to hear from you this morning and we continue to pray for your family. Thank you for the update and for sharing with us your life. My life is blessed because you give us a glimpse into your. Thanks Marilyn for all your hard work also. Blessings Veronica

Thank you all for your comments. I will see that Jean gets them. She really misses not putting on her posts.

It is in the 80's here right now. Suppose to hit the 90's.

Thank you for an update Jean. It is so nice to hear from you, and I hope that Edward heals quick. How wonderful that he's been cooking and baking. I'm looking forward to is recipe in a few weeks.

You're in our thoughts and prayers, and I hope the court hearing will have a positive outcome, and this terrible situation will be behind you.

oh Jean - soooo very nice to hear from you! poor Edward, although from the sounds of things he is doing very well! and poor Susan, she must feel terrible.

i cannot believe that you put each child's money in their own account - you people are wonderful. first, you take these children in and raise them in a manner that the Lord would be so proud of, and then you don't spend a cent of the money that the government sends you monthly for taking care of them. it is very difficult for an englisher, who lives in the world (but tries hard not to), to believe. you people are setting Our Lord's example. and i truly thank you from the bottom of my soul.

Marilyn - you are doing very good work here! thank you for that! and please tell Elmer i am looking very forward to his post.

as well, Marilyn, please update us about how your job is going.

your friend,

Hi Folks,
Jean and David do not take the government money. As Jean said they put it in bank accounts for the children. The only thing they do use is the medical insurance that is on the children. Like when Edward broke his ankle, the state paid the medical bills. The state insurance covers Edward and Katie until they are adopted. Once they are adopted Jean and David are on their own to provide them medical coverage for them.

No news on getting paid at where I work yet. My boss is still out sick. The last news, was we will know in four weeks when she gets her next doctors report. I am also applying at a job somewhere else. I don't think I will get it. I do need a job that I get paid. I've worked without pay here for almost three months and maybe it is time for me to look elsewhere.
