JEAN ANSWERS YOUR CHURCH QUESTIONS

Thought that I would answer some of the meetinghouses (church) questions that you asked, at this time.  We are planning on a larger meetinghouse for a couple of reasons.  First, we bought that meetinghouse many years ago until we got a new one built, but we ended up keeping it longer that we wanted.  The second reason is we have grown so many people, that we need a larger building.  New people have moved into this area.  Many of our meeting members children have grown, married and have children of their own. So we really need a larger meetinghouse.  Our next meetinghouse will be larger, without a steeple, with more entrances, and more.  In fact one of our church members donated the land for us to build the new meetinghouse .

Yes, we do bring babies and toddlers into the meetinghouse (church).   The little ones sit with the mother.  When the boys get about 5 or 6, then they can go sit with their Fathers.  The young ones must know to behave at meetings.  If they misbehave, they are taken outside until they calm down and are brought back in again.  When the boys and girls get about ten years old, the boys can sit with the boys and the girls with the girls.

Someone asked how many families are in our district and I should really know, but I don't off hand.  Some people have moved it, and a few have moved out.  Like I previously said, we are getting larger do to most of our members children growing up and having children which, over the years, has really enlarged us.  Many of our families have 10, 15 children in their family - maybe larger.   As they get older, marry and have children, we are really growing. Yes, we are running out of room at this point.

Another asked if we feel our life is different and a hard way.  I hope our life is different as we try to live a somewhat separate way to the world.  Yes, God and family are important to us and we feel makes a difference.  We believe God is our life.  That everything happens for a reason both good and bad.  We might not know the reason, but there is a reason for everything that happens.

I believe we have hard times in our life, just like you in yours.  Ours might be some different, and some the same.  We are on this earth for the good times, but also the bad times.  Sometimes we learn from out bad times.

I also believe, that in some ways we are slower than the outside world.  It may take us a little longer to get around in the buggy.  Still, when necessary we get a driver to take us.  Although we have electric and telephones, we try to stay away from  radios, computers, televisions, and other items in the outside world.  Yes, I know a car could get us some places faster than the buggy, but it is nice to see the flowers and plants along the way, wave at our neighbors, and be able to talk together.

Hope I answered your questions.

Be With God,
Jean

You weather is beautiful is today, too. Hope it keeps it up.

Hi Folks,
If you get a chance this morning go to Amish America. They have a post about two Amish children that were shot when they went to someone's house to pick up some stereo equipment they had stored there. The van pulled up as it had done many times before and these men opened fire. This was on our local Channel 13 News in Rochester, Ny, too.

Thank you for this explanation Jean. I'm really impressed that the young children are taught to behave. Especially with so many children attending your meetings. The parents must be very patient.

We drove our horses for years, and as you stated, it was so nice to observe nature and our surroundings, and enjoy the peacefulness.
