I went down to the Erie Canal today to take some pictures for a future post. I saw the water fall I had forgotten was there. Also, I saw all these ducks floating around. The pictures aren't too good as I tried to bring them in as close as I could, but I guess it wasn't close enough. Hope you enjoy them anyway.

Really is a beautiful area along side the canal. A couple came up to me and were telling me how beautiful it was. I told them I lived there. Hope they come back again.

Those would be Canada Geese Dear.
Oh, maybe that is what they are. To me they looked like ducks, but everything in the water is ducks to me. Thank you so much.

What a nice outing. I guess Pierre was not with you then?
Hi Vickie,
It was a nice outing. No, Pierre wasn't there. I had to walk on a couple of narrow bridges and I worried something might happen to Pierre. He would have wanted to chase those birds if he had been there.

You are lucky to still have your canal! Our end of the Erie Canal became I-75 !!! Once the canal hit Cincinnati, it went straight to the river....across to Kentucky, so they figured it would make a good expressway!
Yes SueAnn, Historic Erie Canal-There are some things to be said for "progress", and then there are some things to be said about "progress", don't you think? Hi Marilyn, My husband+I grew up in the Syracuse area and of course the Erie Canal goes right through there. There have been some new improvements for the Canal recently and I hope they will spark new interest in NYS history in general and specifically for the Canal. Take care all. Blessings, Carol
Hi Sue Ann and Carol,
I remember that, at one time, the state of New York was talking about filling it in. I am glad they didn't. They have done a lot of improvements with more to come. Many people come from around the world to boat the Erie Canal. I am going to put a post on the Erie Canal on here sometime. I have been taking pictures to put on with it.

Near Lockport NY the path along the canal is gravel and we used to take our horses and ride along the water. It was beautiful and peaceful. Some day I would love to learn to Kayak, and the canal seems like it would be the perfect place.
I knew an elderly couple (both have passed away now) and in 1976 they paddled on a canoe from Western NY to the Statue of Liberty on the canal for the 4th of July.
I'm looking forward to your canal post.
Doreen
Good Morning Doreen,
Thank you for telling us about the canal. In the next town from where I live is a place that rents Kayaks. I would like to do that, too, but I don't know anyone else that would like to go and I don't want to go alone.
