AMISH PHONE SHANTY AND MILLER'S CLOSED STAND

I was driving down the road and needed a place to turn around.  I went down this side road and on the way back I saw the Amish Phone Shanty.  Back in July, I had pictures of Miller's stand and home.  Well, the last picture here is a picture of her stand closed for the winter.

It's so funny to see this little shanty just sitting there in a field for the Amish use. I guess their reasoning is that if it's not convenient, maybe the Amish will only use it for emergencies or at least seldom use it.

Thanks for the pictures. I knew they were around, but I never saw one. Did you know what it was when you first saw it, or did an Amish (maybe Elmer) tell you?

Oh, just a thought, did David tell you that's what it is, like the "portable toilet" picture?

I'm glad to hear that you had a nice Thanksgiving Marilyn. Mine was wonderful. I'm blessed with the best family that anyone could ever hope for. I only had a mere 10 for dinner, unlike Jean's 100 for dinner.

Hi Doreen,
I guess the Amish shanty is there for emergency use. It's just down the street from the school, that I will have picture of later. No, Elmer didn't have to tell me. I knew what it was. I had seen pictures of them, but this is the first one I actually saw. I would like to see the one near Elmer's house to see if all shanty's are alike. Nope, David didn't tell me what it was like the "portable toilet". I don't think he will do anything like that again. It was funny though. I believed him. If he tells me something I am not sure of, I will ask Elmer to confirm, next time.

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family, too.

Glad you liked the picture Marilyn, and as you can see I cheated a little with the background from your original picture that you had sent me. Richard
