JEAN'S PLAIN SOFT CUSTARD

JEAN'S PLAIN SOFT CUSTARD

2 cups milk
2 whole eggs or 4 egg yolks
1/8 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Scald the milk in the top of the double boiler.  Beat together slightly the eggs, sugar and salt.  Add the hot milk to the egg mixture, mix thoroughly and return to the top of the double boiler.  Cook over hot water, stirring constantly until the egg coats the spoon.

I hope this is the recipe that one of you requested. If it's not, let me know, I have another one, but it is much longer than this one.    Jean

Good Morning Everyone,
Hope you enjoy this recipe. We made it through the snow and are now digging out. The maintenance man is plowing the sidewalks and they are also clearing the driveway. Now all I had to do is go dig my car out.

Marilyn - Please be careful!!!

Where we live, we merely had rain and wind.

Thank you for the recipe - I did not know that you could make custard on the stove top - I have only seen it done in the oven.

Have a good day! Chris

Good Morning Chris,
Sam upstairs got my car out of the parking area while they plow it out. It's sitting in front of the building. I am taking it real easy.

This is an old recipe. You can make custard on the top of the stove or in the oven.

I would rather have snow than rain right now.

Have a good day,
Marilyn

My car still needs some cleaning off and I tried to send Pierre out to do it and darn he won't go. I told him I feed him, walk him, take care of him and he can clean the car off. He said he isn't going out in the snow only if he has to go potty. He doesn't clean cars. So I guess I better go and clean it off myself.
I tried.

Thank you, Jean, for the custard recipe. It is one of the simplest I've seen and I can't wait to try it.
I'll have to wait a few days since my husband and son are putting in a new stove with a gas cooktop (electric ovens). I've never cooked with gas before, but am looking forward to it. I will probably take this to the Christmas Eve gathering at my mother's. Thanks again.
