I thought, this time, I would answer some of the questions you asked. One of the questions that has been asked is what group Mennonite do we belong to? We belong to the Wenger Mennonites.
There were questions about Michael and Edward's crops that they grown on their lot. Last year they grew corn, but this year, they are growing vegetables. Yes, they do everything from start to finish including selling. David is here if they have questions, need advice or they need help, - but they are on their own. Last year Michael did most of it on his own as Edward broke his ankle, but this year they are doing it together.
Do we have anything special we like to do when the little children are on vacation? We like to go fishing, have picnics, visit relatives, bake, go for a buggy ride and get ice cream cones and more. We enjoy being together.
Do we have a lot of tourists where we live? Not really. We live out on a country road, off a country road, off a country road - so we are not that easy to find. Sometimes we get tourists, but very seldom.
Someone asked how much do our buggies weigh? It depends how they are construction and what they put on them. Most of our and Amish buggies weight about 1000 pounds to 1200 pounds.
Do we have yard sales or tag sales on a regular basis to bring in extra money? Not on a regular basis. After we got moved into this house, we found a lot of items we don't use or need so we had a yard sale, but that is not on a regular basis.
Yes, there are thrift stores, a little way from our house, that we make use of. We use it mostly for things like tools, some clothes, small kitchen items, but when it comes to something major like a washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, etc. - we usually buy new. I like to go to thrift stores with Susan and Katie to see what we can find.
Was there anyone else, in our community, aside from Martha, who was an Englisher and chose to be baptized in our church? No, there hasn't been. Once in a great while someone will come, live our way for a while, and then decide not to join. Having someone from the outside world join Old Order Mennonite is rare.
I have more questions to answer, but some take longer to answer, so I or Anna will answer them in other posts. As of right now, it looks like I will be back next week.
Be With God,
Jean

Good to see you back here Jean answering questions.
We have Amish neighbors that we are very close friends with. One day I was helping Mr. Schwartz make an appointment for his son David to go to a hospital in Montreal, Canada. I had to give information about his name and middle initial which is M. I asked the boys father if the M stood for Michael and he said "no, it's just M. I found out that all 11 of his children have the middle initial M because that's what their Mothers name begins with. I didn't realize that was the custom amongst the Amish. Do you do that also. Bonnie
Good Morning Bonnie,
I will see that Jean gets your question. She appreciates your comments.

Thank you for answering these questions Jean. It's so nice to hear from you! I would love an update on how Susan, Katie and little David are doing.
I have a thrift store down the street from me, and I love to go there and poke around. It's one of my favorite things to do. We also have a huge shopping mall not far away. It's been there for about 20 years and I've only been in it a handful of times. It's not something I like to do.
Doreen
Hi Doreen,
You and Jean must think alike. As school is starting for her children, Jean thought of doing a post on the young children.

I enjoyed reading about the many topics today. I would enjoy learning more of the animals and pets that live with Jean and Martha and Elmer and Anna.
So happy to see Jean back on here; I've missed her posts! I am looking forward to hearing about how her family is doing and of course, her wonderful recipes! Welcome back, Jean!

Hi Vickie,
Glad you liked today's post and will tell Jean. I will ask her tell about the animals.

Hi Diann,
I will see that Jean gets your message. Funny you should mention recipes. Jean, Anna and I were talking about a cookbook, if anyone would be interested. I don't know what it would cost in the printing and all. It would be recipes that they have had on and other Amish and Mennonite Recipes. Maybe on of my Mother's recipes or two. We are just in the talking station right now.

Hi Jean, thanks for answering the many questions that have been asked of you. When do your kids begin school again? It's hard to believe August is almost upon us+Fall is basically just around the corner. In a way it seems like we just got out of the LONG, BITTERLY COLD winter. Oh well, one day at a time+be thankful for each one. Blessings, Carol
Hi Carol,
I know the children's school begins sometime in August, I am sure Jean will tell. It seems like summer is going oh so fast. It seems we are getting out of the longer winter, but it won't be long before we are back there again. I will see that Jean gets your messages.
Blessings to you and yours,
Marilyn
Hi Everyone,
I said I was given an antique couch in a previous post. It is being delivered to my house at 2:00 PM tomorrow. I can't wait to have it my home. It will be mine. Really mine. God is great !! Also, my newest air condition died - of course the warranty had gone off. I got a another used air conditioner this morning at the freebee table. The price was FREE. It works I had our maintance man check it before he brought it over and installed it at my apartment. Praise God. Now, if I could get a reasonable price TV, I could use one of those.

Thanks for the information, Jean! It is always interesting to hear about how other people do things! I look forward to your next posts!
Marilyn, it's good to hear you are getting the things you want and need! And for such good prices! ;)
Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,
Jean will be back maybe this coming Monday, if Elmer can't make it, but for sure on Tuesday for Anna. I will see she gets your message.
I never thought these would happen to me. Am very thankful. I like the prices, too.
