JEAN SAVES THE DAY !!!!

Marilyn called me at 8:30 PM saying that she had no post for tomorrow (which is today now) and couldn't get a hold of Elmer.  We had an ambulance call this afternoon to Elmer and Anna's old house where one of his daughters and son-in-laws live, now.  They wanted a lady for the back of the ambulance.  So putting two and two together, I think their daughter is bringing her baby forth.  It will be their 9th or 10th children - I can't remember which.  So here I am.

First I would like to thank everyone that donated to Marilyn for New York State of Mind.  It is so very kind of you.  I knew you would come through.  She has money to purchase the camera, if we can figure out which one to buy.  The one we were going to buy isn't for sale anymore, so we are back where we started.  Marilyn and her friend, are going down there again.

I know you have all heard about the two Amish girls being kidnapped and molested.  I am so glad that the people who did this have been arrested.  But, it makes us realize that this could happen to our children.  David and I realized that we can not send Susan and Katie out to the roadside stand alone.  Now either David Sr., Edward, Michael or Thomas (the young man we recently took in our home) or myself must go with them.  If we are busy, there is a jar there for people to put money in. This was one of Susan and Katie's chores, but not alone.

Bishop Joseph and Martha, also let their girls go out to their roadside stand, but now, not without their father, mother or older brothers.  Some of the people have closed their roadside stands because of what happened to those Amish girls.  They feel that no child or woman is safe at a roadside stand.

Our prayers go to those two girls and their family.  We know that they will forgive the people for what they did to them as that is the Amish and Mennonite ways. The Lord's way.  But, they will never forget what happened to them.  Our prayers also go to the people that kidnapped these two girls.  That they realize what they did was wrong.  They realize they need the Lord and we hope and pray that they come to the Lord.

I don't know if Anna will be on tomorrow or not.  If not, I will be back tomorrow and tell you about Thomas, our new Foster Child.

Be With God,
Jean

Thanks for stepping in for Elmer+bringing us up to date on recent happenings in your "neck of the woods". Praying for Elmer+Anna's daughter and new baby are well, for Thomas' adjustment to your home and family, and that God will give you all His grace and everything you need to love and guide Thomas to true faith in Christ and to live a Godly life to His glory and Thomas' good.
Blessings to all of you, In Christ, Carol

Good Morning Carol,

I will see that Jean gets your messages. Still waiting to find out about the baby. Jean says if we don't hear by noon, she will do the post for tomorrow.

It's so nice to hear from you again Jean. I hope everything is okay with Elmer's daughter because an ambulance was called.

It's so heartbreaking to hear about those two girls. I have a much harder time forgiving the people who took them, but admire your ways in dealing with the situation.

I would love to hear about Thomas and how every thing is going with the other children.

I hope Marilyn can pick out another camera soon and grace us with more pictures. It's so nice that many NYS of Mind readers were generous in donating to the cause.

Good Morning Doreen,
We are still waiting on Elmer and Anna about their daughter. I will see that Jean gets your message.

It is heartbreaking about the two Amish girls. I don't know if I forgive like they will. Of course, it's like my Mom use to say: I can forgive, but I can't forget. They won't either.

Hope to get the new camera this week. To me all camera look alike. So I have tot alike someone with me. It is so kind that the readers of New York State of Mind would send all the donations for me. I can't wait to get out and take pictures again.

I received your check Carol and Willow's Quiet Corner. Thank you so very much. It is so kind of you.

This morning, I went to the bank and opened a checking account for just New York State of Mind. That way it will be in a bank account and checks will be record of what I spend. Thought that would be better than in the Pay Pal account all the time. Donations can be made in the Pay Pal account. I will just transfer it over to the checking account. I hope this is agreeable with everyone.

Hi Marilyn, Do what is easiest for you re: acct for NY State of Mind. Also, if you personally know someone who is learned about cameras, ask that person so you can make an informed decision as to what you feel are your needs in a camera. I guess you wouldn't want too many "bells+whistles", nor not enough. I'm sure ease of use is another factor. Take your time. Blessings, Carol

Hi Carol,
Thank you again for your donation. I am going to take my friend with me. I don't want a really fancy camera, but I want one that will last and has a zoom on it. Also, I want one I can walk in and take it home.

Blessings to you and yours,
Marilyn

Thankful for the post, hope all went well for the mother and the baby! Hoping to learn more of Thomas, and hope he is blessed in being there with you.

It is a sad state of affairs that children have been treated this way. I think it wise for the stands to be handled by older people and not children or women alone.

It must grieve the heart of God when things come about in the way they have, but He is faithful, loving, kind, and so very patient in His dealings with us all, that we might be led to repentance.

Thank you for all the sharing posts. I have the utmost respect for you all.

Marilyn,

That was fast! Glad to hear it got there! Good luck in picking out a new camera! I have a little Canon Powershot and it has been a great little camera for me! Just a little point and shoot with zoom, nothing fancy, but it has been extremely reliable. I've had it probably at least 5 or 6 years (maybe more) and never had any problems with it. I know you will find one.

I'm always so sad to hear when anyone is abducted and or abused, but especially so when it involves children. I know we teach our kids to kick and scream and try to get away, but I wonder if Amish and Old Order Mennonites are allowed to teach their children to do that.

It's a sad thing when we have come to a time when it is not safe for women or children to work the roadside stands.

I hope the ambulance was there for good news! Keep us posted!

Hi Annie,

The baby and Mother came through just fine. Jean tells about Thomas today.

I will have to ask Jean and Elmer if they teach their children their children to kick, scream and try to get away.

It is sad when women or children can't work at a roadside stand. That is extra money to many Amish or Mennonite women.

Good Morning Willow's Quiet Corner,
Thank you again, for your donation. It is so kind of you. Your Canon Powershot sounds just what I am looking for. Something simple with a zoom, that lasts for a long time and no problems. That's what I want. I will check it out and see if they still make it. They seem to change cameras every other day.

I will have to ask Jean and Elmer to see if they teach their children to yell, kick and try to escape. Roadside stand is a lot of Amish and Old Order Mennonites women's extra money.

The baby and Mother are doing fine.
