CRUISE ON THE ERIE - OUR CAPTAIN AND GOING THROUGH THE LOCK PART 2

At the top is our Captain.  He is also the Captain that went to California and drove the Colonial Belle to Fairport, New York.  In this post, we went through the lock at Pittsford.  I am trying to show the rising going through the lock.

JEAN AND ANNA HAVE FOUND RECIPES FOR ALL THE REQUESTS WE HAVE SO FAR.  DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE ANY REQUESTS FOR THE CHRISTMAS RECIPES?  THEY HELP JEAN KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE IN RECIPES.

ALSO, DOES HAVE ANYONE HAVE A RECIPE THEY WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? WE WOULD PUT IT ON THE CHRISTMAS RECIPES.

Good Morning Everyone,

Another post on the Erie Canal. Hope you enjoy it.

Marilyn......My oh my the Erie canal sure does look like quite an engineering feat! Since your pictures on this have been posted, I have done a bit of research on it and am in amazement on the amount of coordination, engineering, and man-power that have gone into the canal. No small undertaking, for sure! And to realize that all this is in our little corner of the country....... chris

Good Morning Chris,

You are right. Another interesting point is most of the Erie Canal was dug by hand. They didn't have the fancy equipment then that they do today. Nest week, I thought I would put on pictures of the Erie Canal Museum in Palmyra, NY.

We went on the abbreviated tour and didn't go through the lock west of Fairport. Bummer! Tom The Backroads Traveller

Hi Tom,
You live so close. You could always go again next year and go through the locks. It is a real nice trip.
