ANNA'S SNOW BALLS - FIRST CHRISTMAS RECIPE

Jean: I was going to put my Snow Balls Recipe on here until I tasted Anna's.  Her's were much more delicious than mine.  At my home I baked my recipe and Anna's.  Without telling my family which was which, I had them all taste both of them and decide which one they liked the best.  They all chose Anna's.  So I have selected Anna's Recipe to be used at our home from now on.  Hope you agree.

ANNA'S SNOW BALLS

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 Tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup dates
1/2 cup nuts

Cream mayonnaise, brown sugar, and egg.  Add dry ingredients, water and vanilla - mix.  Add dates and nuts and mix well.  Roll into balls.   Bake 375 degrees for 10 minutes.

Good Morning Everyone,

We re off on our Christmas Recipe a day. If you are new, we will have a recipe a day from today until and including December 24th.

It is snowing today and is suppose to snow for the next two or three days. Oh, well, so far it's not as bad as some years.

Good Morning, Marilyn,

I just read the recipe for Snowball Cookies. At the end of the list of ingredients, milk is listed. I could not find where it is used in the directions. Can you help?

It is snowing here in southern West Virginia and cold! Oh well, it is winter. Have a wonderful day.

Good Morning Wilma,
Glad you caught that. I looked at the recipe that Jean gave me and realized I put milk in place of nuts when I typed it. I must have had milk on the brain. Anyway, thank you so much for telling me. I have corrected the recipe now.

You sound like us weather wise. Like you say, it is winter.

Hope you have a wonderful day, too,
Marilyn

Hi Jean, this sounds really good! What should the diameter of the snow balls be+what is the yield for the recipe?
Hi Marilyn, Our driveway continues to be a sheet of ice and we're expecting another 4-8" today. As our son's say often, "It is what it is". Everybody stay wRm and be very careful out there! Blessings, Carol

Thanks Jean - I may give these a try. I would like to know the yield and the size of the snowball too if you will.
Are these brown snowballs- ha,ha! I'm saying that because of the cinnamon and brown sugar. :-)

Hi Folks,
I just got back on, I did a stupid thing today. My phone and my computer did not work so I called Verizon. They ran me through all the tests and were going to send a repairman. I had no phone service or computer service for several hours - until I went to the plug where I plug in the phone cords and the computer cord. Some how I had flipped the switch. WOW, I turned the switch on and everything worked. So I called Verizon back up and cancelled the service call. I can't believe I did this !!!

By the way the snow here is terrible. We shouldn't go on the road unless we had to. I fell in the snow today or am kind of sore, but still going, All please, be carefull.

Please be careful!
I am going to try these. Assume the dates are chopped?

Hi Carol,

I got hold of Jean earlier and she said they should be a large teaspoon full. As for the number she said lots of them. I know that doesn't help, but she didn't count them. She will be making them again, soon and will let me know.

It's bad here right now. They are telling people to keep off the road if they can. I drove today in town and I don't want to do that again.

Hi Mary,
When I think of snow balls, I think of coconut, but I guess I am wrong. I looked up in other cookbooks I have and none of them of coconut or anything like it. As I said to Carol, they should be a large teaspoon full for each. As far as for how many Jean said lots. She will make them again and let me know.

Hi Carol in S.C.,
Yes, the dates should be chopped. It doesn't say in the recipe, but I think they should be, Let us know how they come out when you make them. If you get a chance, take a picture, I would like to put them on here.

How's the weather in S.C.?

Hi,
Someone suggested and I think they are right is that these are suppose to be dusted in powdered sugar - that is why they are called snow balls. Right now, I can't get Jean on the phone.
