Here is an Old Order Mennonite farm I took pictures of a couple of months ago. I want to go out this weekend and see if I can get more pictures. The way the weather is going, there won't be any snow. I wanted some winter pictures.
JEAN'S CHRISTMAS THUMBPRINT COOKIES
1/2 Cup shortening
1/4 Cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 Cup sifted all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg white, slightly beaten
3/4 Cup finely chopped nutmeats
jam
Preheat oven to 375 degrees
Cream shortening, add sugar, gradually.
Add egg yolk and vanilla. Beat well.
Sift flour with salt. Add to creamed mixture.
Form into 1" balls, dip in egg white and roll in nutmeats.
Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes. Remove from oven and quickly press thumb gently on top of each cookies.
Return to oven, bake 8 minute longer.
Cool. Fill centers with jam.

Hi Marilyn, Guess we humans are a funny lot in that when we would like some snow there isn't any, and when we don't really want anymore we get a Nor'Easter or some other big storm. Go figure! LOL ;)
All I can say for Jeans' cookies today is "Yummmmm!
Enjoy the wknd everyone+be safe. Carol
Hi Carol,
Guess we are funny regarding the white stuff. Would like some pictures with something Amish or Old Order Mennonite to put on for the top of the post for winter. After that I don't care if we ever had snow again. LOL
Glad you like Jean's cookies
You enjoy the weekend and be safe, too,
Marilyn
