THE SAMPSON HOUSE IS GONE !! AND GRANDMOTHER OLIVE'S CHOCOLATE HEAVEN

Last August when I got the new camera, this is one of the houses that I took pictures of.  Do to the condition of the house, I heard that it may be torn down and unfortunately, it was.  One of the most historic houses of our town, of our village is gone.  Here are the pictures of it in August, and it's stages of being torn down.

GRANDMOTHER OLIVE'S CHOCOLATE HEAVEN

1st layer:
1 cup flour
1 stick melted margarine
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Blend together and pat in bottom of pyrex dish (or metal).  Bake at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until brown.  Let cool completely.

2nd layer
1 cup cool whip
1 cup confectioner sugar
1 8 oz. package cream cheese

Blend together and spread over 1st layer.

3rd layer
Mix 1 large package instant chocolate pudding as directed on box.  Stir until thickened.  Pour over 2nd layer and let set a few minutes.

4th layer
Spread the rest of the large package of Cool Whip over 3rd layer.
Refrigerate.

I looked at the pictures with sadness. I hate seeing old homes destroyed instead of preserved. Such a shame.

How sad that this house was taken down. Another piece of history gone.

Grandmother Olive's recipe looks like a nice easy one.

Certainly an easy, very tasty sounding recipe, Grandmother Olive!
It's too bad no one seems to care about historic homes etc when restoration is possible, and then it's too late. Many hands make light work in many ways.

Good Morning Doreen,

Hurts to see that one go. When I was a child I use to play with a girl who lived there. Her last name was Sampson. Her parents kept that house in excellent condition. I wonder how she feels now.

Grandmother Olive says that is a recipe she likes to make with David Jr., Katie and Susan.

Good Morning Carol,

This does seem like an easy recipe.

This is a small town and our Historic Society has only what money they get by donations or things they put on like their dinners, Christmas Bazzar, etc. They have saved five houses already. Bonnie, the head didn't know they were tearing it down so fast. The Historic Society's lawyer was trying to deal with the owner's attorney, but the people tore it down so fast. Bonnie found they were tearing it down when a neighbor told her she better get over there with her camera. So Bonnie and I both went over and took pictures. From what we gathered, the people took it down to build a new one there. I thought the State Historic Society might have something to say about that, but I guess if you own it you must keep the building under certain state laws, but if you want to tear it down, they can't stop you - it's your house.

Hi Folks,
Well I charged one set of my batteries for my camera and am back in business again. I don't know how I let all three sets run out like that.

Hi Annie,

Yes, you are right. It is gone and can't be replaced.

If you make them and would like to send us a picture, I would be glad to it on here. Glad you like the recipe.

Hi Folks,

I would like to thank the two donations that I have received. I don't know if you want your names here, but you know who you are. It is greatly appreciated.

This is one of my favorite recipes! YUM! Thank you to grandmother Olive!

I also am very sad when these old homes/buildings are left to go to ruin and torn down. Very sad.

Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,

Will see that Grandmother Olive gets your message. I really like that one myself.

It is sad that the old houses or buildings are let go to ruin and then torn down. That is a part of history gone.
