MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - MAY 25th, 2015

Memorial Day Parade pictures.  It is a very small parade.  When I was a child, the parade was a big one.  As a Girl Scout, we marched the Palmyra Memorial Day Parade and then got in cars and marched in the Macedon Parade.  Every year the parade gets smaller and smaller.

Thanks for the pictures of your parade, Marilyn. I think it is a little sad that the parade is getting smaller every year. In general across the country, so many people seem to be forgetting what this day is truly about. It is just getting to be another day to party.

Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,

You are most welcome for the pictures. It is sad that the parade is getting smaller every year. People are forgetting the true reason for Memorial Day.

To most people it is just a day off work.
Young people don't understand or care, or so it seems.
There aren't any parades around here that I know of.

Hi Jodie,
You are right about the day off and people don't understand or care. It's sad there aren't any parades around where you live.

There is one positive thing to be noted though, small as they may be, at least there are still parades; many have not forgotten the past and what it took to preserve freedom. Freedom isn't free. It cost many people's lives throughout the ages. We should be thankful daily.

Good Morning Carol,
You are right. It's like one person and I were talking about. I hadn't been born yet when World War II was. My parents though lived through it and told us about all they went through and others went through. Generations after us get it all in history books and it's sad. In our area, we have some people that go to schools and tell them about the war. Some are Jewish and tell of the thousands killed during that war and why. We should be thankful daily.

Hi Tom,
It was a nice parade. Short, but very nice. You can come next year.
