ELMER SAYS: "MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE PLANTED RICE"

Elmer asked me to put these pictures on of all the rain that we have gotten in New York State the last few weeks to show what it has done to the crops.  Rain is good for crops, but all of this rain is not.  We are suppose to get more rain this week.

Good News
Remember those Osprey Birds I have been taking pictures of?  She has had at least one baby hatch as my neighbor got a picture of her and baby yesterday.  For some reason he can't send pictures from his computer or camera to my computer. Something about the size.  I don't understand. Anyway, I am going to see if I can get pictures.  We found out if you stay in the car and take pictures, Mama bird doesn't get as upset as she does if you get out of the car. So I will see what I can do.  It's awful cloudy today so that might not help, either.

It sure is hard on the crops. Will be praying for the farmers.

Good morning, Marilyn. If you could just package up some of that and send it to California...Life as a farmer is tough and I've got a lot of respect for those that hang in there year after year. I've always lived in an agricultural area, I know how farmers struggle.

Good Morning Jodie,

It is suppose to rain today, again here. Suppose to go on for most of the week. It is hard on the crops. I know they appreciate your prayers.

Good Morning Angela,
If we could pack up the water and send it, I think we would. I will see that Elmer gets your message. This is also what makes prices go up according to Elmer.

Good Morning Marilyn, We have low spots in our yard that are still pretty wet from all the rain, and you have had even more since you are south of me. Drove by some corn fields last night that had spots that were standing in water and the corn was not high at all. Hopefully we won't get too much rain. Cathy in Webster

Good Morning Cathy,
We aren't far apart so we both have the same thing. I hope we don't get too much rain, either.

I'm sorry Elmer has so much standing water in his fields. The weather controls everything for the crops. Where I live, there are lots of cherry orchards and vineyards. They will have much less or no crops this year due to heavy late frost in May. The corn that should be knee high by 4th of July, isn't even near that in some fields I've seen. Farming is not for the faint hearted, and we all need them. God bless them for all their efforts. I would love to see an update on the osprey family.

Hi dynnamae n,

All the farms are going through that. It's sad. Elmer says it is all in God's hands. We have the same with corn here that you have.

As for the osprey. Guess what will be on Thursday?

Sorry to hear about the excess of rain, but I'm with Angela . . . send it out to us! We've moved into our 4th year and counting of severe drought. We have pipelines for oil, why don't we have them for water? It's more valuable than oil! :) That way, we could pipe some of the excess of water in some areas to those that need it. Helping both areas!

Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,

I wish we could send it out to you. We are awaiting a big storm in a half hour or so. It would be a good idea to pipe it from us to you. It would help us both out.
