My previous dog, Rickie, a chihuahua, passed away do to cancer, so I am all upset over Pierre. I can't believe this may be happening again.
Tomorrow the vet will call me to tell what the surgery will cost. On Monday she will tell me what the blood tests say when they come back.
I am all upset. Of course, I am praying to the Lord. I am asking those that believe in praying for animals, to please pray for Pierre.
Right now, I don't know if I should get a second opinion or not. I am going to wait until the tests come back to decide. This vet is a new one to me. Wonder if I should go back to the one I had before for a second opinion.
I would really appreciate your prayers.
Thank you.
God Bless you,
Marilyn
UPDATE:
Just got a call from the vet I took Pierre to yesterday. The surgery will cost between $550.00 and $1,000. That's out. I just don't have that kind of money.
Will wait until their blood report Monday and then call my former vet.

Good Morning Marilyn, so sorry to hear about Pierre. I personally would go get a second opinion. My dog has several lumps and they are not cancer, simply what is called lipoma. The vet should have done a needle biopsy of the lump I think, however, I am not a vet, but I would still get a second opinion. Why put Pierre through surgery if he does not need it. Will say a prayer for both you and Pierre as you deal with this. Cathy in Webster
Hi Marilyn. Try not to get too upset yet. You will have more answers on Monday with the blood results. I am praying.
Prayers for Pierre and you too! We'll keep them coming. I agree with the others about a second opinion and wonder why the vet didn't do a needle biopsy right then. I've been through some things with my beloved pets and can feel for you as I'm sure many of your pet loving readers do too.
Try to keep calm,
Mary
Good Morning Cathy,
Thank you so much. A friend of of mine who own's Pierre's girlfriend showed me some of the lumps, her dog Lily has on her. I thought they should have taken the needle biopsy first, but the vet said surgery. I think when the results come in Monday, I will make an appointment with the vet I use to take Pierre, too. She took care of my previous dogs Niki and Rickie. Took care of Pierre when I first got him. The only reason I switched is because the new one is closer. I would feel better in what the previous vet said. Thank you for the prayers.

Good Morning Vickie,
I will wait and see what she says Monday. I can't help but worry. Funny part it doesn't seem to bother Pierre. He runs, plays, eats, etc. just like he always did. Thank you so much for your prayers.
Marilyn
Good Morning Mary,
Thank you so much for the prayers. My vet had done a biopsy on my previous dog, Rickie, that's how she found out he had cancer. This vet was going to do it on Pierre, but decided on surgery. I don't know why. Maybe for the money, I don't know. That's why I would feel better going to our previous vet. I have been through it with my other dogs, too. We worry about our pets so much.
Marilyn
Oh Marilyn, my thoughts are with both you and Pierre. Please keep us updated.
Good Morning Anonymous,
Thank you so much. Pierre and I really appreciate it. Will keep everyone updated.
Marilyn
go see Luba on route 441 just west of route 350 she is the best vet around
Good Morning Tom,
The vet I usually go to is Semilof at Williamson Animal Hospital. She is good, too. I may take you up on yours. Pierre deserves the best.
Marilyn
Good morning, Marilyn. I will keep you and Pierre in my thoughts this weekend. Dogs are more than animals, they are our friends and confidants. If you are more comfortable with your prior vet, then you should definitely see them for a second opinion.
Good Morning Angela,
Thank you so much for your prayers. Dogs ARE more than animals. Really, I do feel more comfortable with my prior vet. She took care of Rickie, when he had cancer. I think she would be the same with Pierre.

Marilyn, I am sorry to read this about Pierre. I know if it were either of my girls, I'd be upset too. I will keep you both in my prayers. Let us hope for the best since we don't have confirmed diagnosis. Hugs to you both with love.
Hi dynnamae n.
Thank you for your understanding and prayers. I am upset about Pierre. Will take him to the other vet this coming week and see what she says.
Hugs back to you,
Marilyn and Pierre
One of my sheltie/collie mix rescues had lipomas for years, and passed away at the age of 15 (kidney and liver issues, completely unrelated to benign lipomas), so don't give up hope, get that second opinion, or at least a needle biopsy before having your dog undergo surgery, and if a third opinion is warranted, go for it. Kind thoughts and prayers are with you and Pierre for a successful outcome.
Marilyn - i am sooo sorry to hear about Pierre. how old is he? we have a cat who has "little bumps" on his chin...not malignant but the vet wanted us to get him expensive antibiotics. we chose a different route...we rub unpastuerized, raw, local honey on his chin every morning and get him to lick the honey off of our fingers in the evenings. raw, unpasteurized honey is a natural antibiotic...maybe it can help pierre? put a little dollop in his food as well.
sometimes surgery and all that comes with it is uneccessary. we are big believers in not cutting into the body of anything unless it is absolutely neccessary - and even then - we don't believe in it. our bodies are our temples, given to us by The Lord. but everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and we recognize that.
if you feel that Pierre needs surgery - we support you. if you think that you can research different non-invasive methods for him - we support that, too.
most of all - we are sending our love, prayers and healing thoughts to your beautiful boy!
your friend,
kymber
Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for telling me about your dogs. I had those on my previous poodles. Plan on going to my previous doctor for a second opinion. I trust what she says. She will probably do a needle biopsy as that is what she did on my chihuahua and we found he had cancer. Like to go to her, but she is so far away, but for Pierre I will do it. I hope it is a successful outcome, too. Will let everyone know.
Marilyn
Hi Kymber,
I am taking Pierre to the vet we use to go to. I trust her and believe her. I don't believe in surgery unless it is really necessary. I believe our bodies are God's Temples. So I want to know if this operation is necessary or not. I have had these lumps on other poodles that weren't cancer and were never operated on. But, in my mind, I always remember Rickie, my chihuahua, that had cancer. I want to make sure this isn't cancer, in Pierre. I really appreciate your advice and want to keep that because I may end up using it. I didn't know natural honey is an antibiotic. Pierre just turned 7 years old in December.
Marilyn
Marilyn - i am glad that you have a vet that you can trust - she will give you her opinion and you can make your decision.i pray that Pierre doesn't have cancer...i mean that from the bottom of my heart - he is still very young! and yes, if you can find local, pure, unpasteurized honey - get some and get him to lick a little bit off of your fingers every day. and for that matter - you should have a spoonfull a day as well. and yes, if you look it up - it is a natural antibiotic.
make sure to let us know how Pierre's appointment goes. i know you must feel stressed and agitated - but just remember that so very many of us have you in our prayers.
sending much love! your friend,
kymber
Hi Marilyn, of course I will pray for Pierre. I am glad you will go back to your old vet. Certainly, a needle biopsy is less invasive and less costly than surgery. Seems odd to jump right to surgery. Anyway, I. Am praying and hope the old vet works out better. One of my sister's dogs, a Bichon , had non-cancerous lumps all over him. Rosemary
Good Morning Everyone,
I made an appointment for 1:30 tomorrow afternoon to take Pierre to our former vet and have her check this out and take a biopsy. She treated Rickie, when he had cancer, and I am sure she will give me the result on Pierre. Maybe I am getting upset for nothing, but I want to make sure. What our former vet says I believe.
Marilyn
Marilyn, I'm sorry you're going through this. Carol in SC
