ELMER'S POST OF THE WEEK

Am giving this post to Marilyn on Friday.  Anna and I will be at the doctors on Monday morning, getting her cast removed.  She has these big plans of things she plans on doing, but she will still have a lot of physical therapy.  Won't be able to do a lot of things she wants to for a while.

Also, as Marilyn told you, I have gotten one of our drivers to put on a post.  I bribed him, in a way.  He will explain what I did.  Think you will enjoy what both he and his wife do transporting  us around when need be.  We are glad and appreciate what they do for us.

Someone asked how do we teach the next generation the importance of treating our land with the respect it deserves?  In the Bible Genesis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."
also Genesis 1:11 - 12 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself upon the earth and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind and God saw that it was good."  Also Genesis 1:24 "And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so."

In Genesis, we are told that God created the earth.  On the earth He gave us grass, herb yielding seed, fruit trees, living creature, cattle, beast and more.  In Genesis 3:23 "Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden to till the ground from whence he was taken."  When Adam and Eve disobeyed what the Lord told them in the Garden of Eden, they were sent to the earth.

Because of these readings in the Bible, we feel it is out duty - is the world of the Lord for us - to treat the land.  To respect the land.  To use the land.  When one of our children or grandchildren show disrespect for the land, I read them Genesis Chapters 1-3.  We discuss it.

It does bother me today they are building subdivisions.  Much of the property is also having business built on it.  Now, I admit Anna and I built a house, so it sounds like I am saying that for everyone else but myself, but that's not what I mean.  I have nothing against people building a house, but when they build 20 or 30 houses - that bothers me.  The price of land has gone up.  It is so expensive that some people have had to go into different trades because they can't afford to buy land.

In answering your question, I assume that you know the Lord and your child or children know the Lord. The Lord's way is what I know.  What I, hope, I made our children understand that we were given  the land for our use.  When out time comes - the land may be passed to another family member, or sold.  But, it is no longer ours.  We can not take the land to heaven with us - it stays here on the earth.  The land was here long before we got here and unless the Lord comes soon, it will be here long after we are gone.  It has gone generation to generations.  We just have the use of it while we are here.

This land is a gift to us, even though we had to pay for it, and it is for our use.  How we use, we will have to answer to the Lord for.  I like to plow the fields.  The horses pull the plow and have done it for so long, they know where they are suppose to go.  I just make sure they go there.  While I am out there, I pray much of the time.  I thank the Lord.  Also, think of this dirt will soon have seeds in it and they will grow and become crops that we will sell some, eat some and give some.  The crops come up every year we do this. Thank you Lord.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Elmer

Thankful for this morning that Anna is getting rid of her cast today. Hallelujah! I sure enjoyed Elmer's post and sharing his knowledge of how God wants the land used and taken care of. I am also thankful for land conservancy groups. At least some farm land won't be developed into other building projects. Some of us, have been fortunate enough, (in our mind) to have always lived in the "country". I consider that a gift from God too. Have a great Monday.

Hi dynnamae n,
Anna will be so happy !! I enjoyed Elmer's post too. The area I live is a farm area, but I remember, as a child, when there used to be a child more. A lot of them aren't there anymore.

Have a great Monday, too,
Marilyn

Yes, it is always sad to see the family farms disappear here in Wisconsin. I pray a lot while I am out gardening as well.

Thank you Elmer for addressing my question. You did so in a way that brings all the glory to God. I would of expected nothing less. I am going back into the book of Genesis and going to read through some of the great scripture you have shared. Was also thinking of looking through our local book depot for some childrens books relating to this subject of the land and how God intended for us to treat the land and how we can grow our own things also. One more question while I am writing is what type of books would you or Anna of read your children when they were small. Once again thanks for everything you shared. Hello Marilyn I pray you had a wonderful weekend also. Looking forward to reading what your driver has to write also. So glad to hear Anna got her cast off. Praying Physio goes well and a loving reminder to her to not push herself to much as she could have other problems in doing so. God Bless and praying for you all her in Ontario Canada

I agree with Elmer on caring for God's earth. However, if there are 20-30 houses, that means there are 20-30 families that will call those houses homes. It's not so much the number, but how those houses/neighborhoods are built. As well as what the homeowners do with their land once they're in there.

I hope Anna's physical therapy goes well.

Hi Lily,
I had to smile about your houses view. My Dad use to be in the Real Estate Business and that is the way he felt about houses. People need houses. What Elmer posted are his views. They may not be the same view as others.

Hope Anna's physical therapy goes well, too.

Thank you, Elmer. Anna must feel so "liberated" with no cast!! Gardening will be extra special this year. I'd be figuring out a way to garden WITH a cast, if necessary, as it's that important to me! I do agree with Elmer about all the houses. As a farmer, it saddens me to see ag land being developed. Aren't there enough homes already?
