ELMER'S POST

A belated Happy Mother's Day to all the Mother's out there.  Hope you had an enjoyable day.  It was very nice here.  As it was a church Sunday, after our service which was at Bishop Eli's house, we men put on a dinner for the ladies.  All year, the ladies put on meals for us, after service.  It is our way of thanking them for all they do.  Also, we gave each of the Mother's a flower.  I think the ladies enjoyed us men doing the cooking and cleaning.

We look forward to building John and Dot's house for them.  They will have to wait until next month, but it will be going up.  Already they are planning where the basement will be - that goes in first.  People will come from all over to help build that house like they do barns.  We will do like we did when we built our house.  The first day, the outside will go up and the inside floors.  We will come back to put in the insulation, electric, water pipes, kitchen cupboards, and walls where they want them. When that is all done, the ladies will come in and clean up all our dust and what have you.  Then they can move in.

Also, we agreed we would help them move in.  There is a reason for all this help.  They can't be driving if they are working on a house, packing, and moving.  Sooner we get them in , the sooner they can get back on the road.  They are good people to us.  Have gone out of their way for us.  Never have refused a call or knock on the door in the middle of the night for an emergency.  Some drivers have said they will only driver during certain hours.  Not John and Dot.  We try not abuse this service, but sometimes an emergency is an emergency - and sometimes in the middle of the night.

Also some drivers will not go out of state or only go so far from where they live.  Again, not John and Dot.  They will go instate or out of state.

There are other drivers who will drive anywhere like they do and will come out of the bed in the middle of the night.  But to some of them, it is strictly a job.  They are our drivers, but I would not say they are our friends.  Not that we don't like them, we do,  but they don't care to be friends.  They are nice, will take us where we want to go, but say wouldn't make an extra stop or want to talk to us or be friendly.  So when we have nice people, kind people, who will go out of the way - we do what we can for them to, to keep them as our friends and drivers. John and Dot are our friends.

Anna is coming along well with her leg.  She is on a cane now - when she remembers to use it.  Sometimes she still uses the walker if she has to go a way or she isn't sure of where she is walking.  I told her she has to get that African Violet post on.  She said she will.

Our daughters, daughter-in-laws and some friends came over to help her plant the garden and clean her green house.  Anna is so happy that most of her garden is in and the green house is all nice and clean.

We men are plowing and planting the fields.  This time of year, we can use every hand we can get.  One of our local farmers fell and broke his hip, so a group of us went over to plow his field and plant it for him.

Spring has finally Sprung.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Elmer

So nice to be caught up with you. What bad timing for a farmer to break his hip! Not that anyone ever wants to break his hip!!

Good Morning Vickie,
Glad you are caught up. Was a bad time for that farmer to break his hip, but help came.

Hugs to Mable, Henry and Murphy,

Love Elmer's post and usually a laugh along the way. When he said, the sooner the house is up, the sooner John and Dot can be driving them again, I had to laugh. Can't imagine being a driver and not making friends but to each their own.

There is something to be said for friends. We moved into a community with a large Amish population, this farm was Amish. Our nicest neighbors are an Amish family. We are finding good friends here and it just makes for a better community.

What did you Men cook for your wives?
