JEAN'S POST

First, we thank the Lord that Pierre came through his surgery so well.  It is almost healed up and all the stitches came out as they were suppose to.

He came to our house with Marilyn as Elmer wanted to see that Comfurt Collar that Pierre wore after his surgery.  I thought Pierre had met Elmer before, but he hadn't and Pierre was kind of shy of him.  We guess it was the beard.  It was kind of funny because as soon as Marilyn touched Elmer, Elmer was a friend of Pierre's.  I know Marilyn will tell your more about Comfurt Collar later, but Elmer thought that was a lot better on dogs than those plastic things the vet have.  Marilyn showed him how you put it on and take it off.  What the inside was made of and all.

Anna, Marilyn and I had lunch together.  Anna had made a lunch for the men at her house.  She said our lunch was going to be a ladies lunch.  Sorry fellows.  So the men said they were going to have a men's lunch at Anna's.

The recipe that is coming on tomorrow is what I served for lunch for us ladies.  We also had homemade bread with homemade jellies, homemade cake, and ice tea.  Us ladies sat and talked about this and that.  We had a real good time and enjoyed each others company.  Decided we have to do this more often.

Michael has told us that when he is 18, he plans on moving in a one room apartment.  He wants to be on his own.  He also told us that when we thought he was helping someone, he was actually working a job for an Englisher leaning to repair cars.  This was a shock to David and I.  We asked what he was going to about the job he has repairing farm machinery, washing machines, etc. on our property.  He said he was going to move it somewhere.  David asked where, but Michael didn't know yet.

Michael told us he loves us, but he doesn't want to live our way of life the rest of his.  He said he wants to drive a car - not a horse and buggy.  He wants to dress and live like the Englishers.  He believes in the Lord and would go to a more modern church.

David and I figured he might go the ways of the world.  His parents did not believe in the Lord.  He did not know the Lord until he came to us.  But still, it was shocking.  He even has the room at a friends parents house all picked out.

Edward, Thomas, Ruth, Michael, David and I prayed.  We asked for God's wisdom and will.  We asked Edward and Thomas if they had any idea.  Thomas said he had a feeling, but he didn't have anything where he could come and prove it.

We also told Bishop Joseph, as is our way.  He came to talk to him .  I don't know what they said, but Michael did not change his mind.

Michael's birthday is October 31st, so we told him we felt we should all pray about this.  We are not stopping him, but believe he should think about this and pray about it.  This will always be his home. He can come here anytime and we hope he will allow us to come to his place.

We asked Elmer if he knew about this as he and Michael have the same birthday and talk a lot together.  Elmer said if he had known he would have told us.  He would not keep something like this from a parent.  We knew Elmer wouldn't, but just wanted to know.

Bishop Joseph told us, we should make Michael quit his job with the Englisher.  We should make him do just the work that is on our farm.  Our job is to keep a close watch on Michael and to make sure he does the way of the Lord.

We feel if we make Michael stop his job with the Englisher and watch him, he will just leave earlier.  We do not want to lose Michael.  He is our son.  So, we are praying for the wisdom to know what to do.

Michael said he didn't care if I put this on here.  I wouldn't do it without his permission.

Be With God,
Jean

NOTE:  There is a post on every day this week including Saturday and Sunday.

Oh Michael! Such a troubled path you have come from. I am so glad you came to be with David and Jean. God has given you such a good family and home. Pray. Pray about all of this Michael. Know that they all love you very, very much. They want what is best for you. I am so very glad to know that you believe in the Lord Michael.

Parenting is the most difficult job in the world but also the most rewarding. I believe, with God's help, you are doing the best you can. Prayer, communicating and unconditional love. Before Michael came to be your son, he knew not the Lord. Now, he may follow a different path, but he still has his faith in God. My children did not all keep worshipping the way they were raised, and it is a very hard thing to accept. I understand and am praying for all of you.

Oh, Jean.....being a mother of a teenager (or at least some of them) isn't for the faint of heart! I.don't know what to say that you haven't already heard from someone else. Michael is a wonderful young man, thanks to your family and community's guidance. Trust in the Lord, and in Michael, that he will make good choices in his life. You already know this......keep the lines of communication with him open so he always feels welcome and loved by all of you. I know you will!!

Hi,
I will see that Michael and Jean get your messages. It is hard when any teen moves out of home.

Train up a child in the way he should go and he will not depart from it... You and David have given Michael a foundation he might not have had otherwise and he is not likely to "stray" very far from the path you have set. Surround him in prayer and the assurance of your love and steadfastness... The longing of his heart that seems to take
him afar will be countered by his longing for home...that safe haven
filled with memories that you have provided for him....a very special
place in the heart that cannot be denied for long.....seeded there by
the Lord....
