THE EXPLORER - A BUS

The Explorer - A - Bus is a bus that could go most anywhere there are children - schools, libraries, and more.  As you can see, inside the bus are all sorts of activities for children.  Of course, with the crafts there is a little education.  The bus was parked in front of the Palmyra Community Library when I got these pictures.  Sadly, this will probably be the last year of the bus.  It was started with a grant that no longer is.  The bus needs a lot of work and the library can't afford it.  Replacing the bus with another, is way out of their budget.

What a great idea for our little county...we seem to find money for the dumbest things, why not this.

Good morning Marilyn, I agree with Tom, we do find money for the dumbest things and this should be one of the items that needs to be kept going. Hands on learning is such a great way for kids to learn and sadly this seems to be being replaced by learning done on the computer, sitting down with no interaction with other people taking place. My rant for the day I guess. Have a great day, Cathy in Webster

Good Morning Tom and Cathy,
I agree with you both and so does our library. This has been great to children in Wayne County and now we are going to lose it. They price is so high to fix it or get a newer bus. One of the garages offered to do it them paying just the cost of parts. The one in town you would think would be the last to do something like that, but he said his grandchildren have been on that bus. So far, they haven't been able to raise enough money. It's sad.

So often money is spent unwisely, and now a fun/educational+worthy idea that has benefited kids in the area is going by the wayside for lack of funding. Very sad. And, of course, the kids lose.
Make a good day everyone- blessings, Carol

Surely there is someway to raise the money. Has there been a write up in the local paper? The town needs to put there heads together.
