BUGGIES - NEW YORK HAITI BENEFIT AUCTION - POST 4

Hope you enjoy the buggies.  I have one picture of a black and white horse-it was the only horse that color in all of the horses there.  My favorite shot is with all the horses and buggies-and a motor home sitting there.  That motor home seemed so out of place.

STARTING TUESDAY IS SUE ANN'S CANNING POSTS.  THEY WILL BE TUESDAY AND THURSDAY THROUGH JULY.  NOW IS THE TIME TO GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED.

Good Morning,
The rain has come. It rained last night and is suppose to rain today. Hope you like the buggies. I had a post made up last night from Martha for Monday and accidentally hit the wrong key and deleted it. So now Martha and I will have to get together this evening and do it all over again. Oh well.

What a nice assortment of vehicles, and I love how they're all side by side, just like a parking lot except a live horse is attached.

Most of the Amish in my area use retired Standardbred horses off the track, and Standardbreds are typically brown in color which is called 'bay' (brown body, black mane and tail). It's unusual to see a black and white Amish horse.

Doreen

Sorry for the delete above. I had to fix some spelling.

Hi Doreen,
Glad you like the assortment of horses. I enjoyed they were parked together, too.

I discussed with the place our local race track horses go. The Amish do not buy horses there which surprised me. They either buy from an Amish horse farm or buy them at auction. I didn't know that.

I really liked the black and white one. It was the only one there in all the buggies I saw and I saw lots of them. I thought they mostly bought bay or the all black horses.

I have spelling problems, too. Don't feel bad.

I like your photos. I think I like the one that has a flat bed area in the back. It makes me think of really old T_Model pick up trucks. Thanks for sharing. Would like to know if she makes her jams and jellies with or without store bought box pectin.

Hi Annie.....
I have done both..store bought...and I have made my own..which you can do from the remains of apple juicing....can tell you more about that in the posts.....you can also make them without any pectin at all...just the boil time and sugar added is more..

Hello Fionalina,

Thank you so much. I have another shot of the six one that is better. I didn't realize it until after I had them all on. Someday, I will have the other picture on a post.

As today was not a church Sunday at Elmer's area, I have his first post which will be on July 8th. It will be about why the Amish don't have electric. Also, I gave him another question that was asked, about what is the difference between the Old Order Mennonite and the Amish. So he will give us another post. When my car gets fixed and is back on the road, I want to show him the pictures of the buggy that I took and have him do a post on the buggy they sold at the Haiti Auction. I think he would be better describing the pictures than I would.
