AMISH BAKE GOODS - ROADSIDE STAND

I was driving in an Amish and Mennonite area, that I hadn't been in before when I came across this baked foods stand along the road.  I had to stop.  The lady was kind enough to let me take pictures.  As you can see I purchase a loaf of banana bread ($2.25), 7 chocolate chip cookies ($2.50) and the Whoopie Pie ($1.00).  The peach, shoo fly, etc. pies were $6.00 each.  If my memory serves me, the white bread was  $2.75 a loaf. I also liked the quilts, aprons, man's hat and more that were in the background.  I forgot to ask her the prices.   I plan on going out there again in the very near future.  The baked food stand that I went to was:
Miller's Baked Goods, Rt. 14 North, Lyons, New York,  As the sign at the top says, they are only open on Friday and Saturday.

Good Morning, Marilyn!
What a sweet stand! The prices are so cheap there!!! Just tack on 2 dollars more per product and that is what we pay here..when we are near an Amish settlement (nearest one to me is a 5 hour drive.) I wonder what the quilts go for? I see she had a lot of fudge there too! A lot of time spent in the kitchen...! Neat place..I hope you get there again!

Very enterprising -The baking looks good and the other things they sell -I love the old cash register have not seen one for years
Prices seem very reasonable especially banana bread as it looks big

This is a good post Marilyn
are the little plastic tubs in the picture dips and dressings

Good Morning Sue Ann and Fionalina,

The prices are reasonable. I couldn't get over them. They are were delicious, too. The Whoopie Pie never made it to my apartment - I ate it on the way. Miller's is about a half hour from where I live. I will be going there again, soon, and I will find out the prices on the quilts, aprons, etc.

In the plastic tubs are fudge. I will try that next time I go. She must be baking a long time before Friday and Saturday.

This is the first roadside bake goods I had seen since I was in Pennsylvania and that was years ago.

Hi Vanssmomc,
You are most welcome. It is worth the trip to the bake food stand.

I have some more pictures of their house and buggies to put on another post.

Thanks for the pictures Marilyn. The Amish in my area, Leon/Conewango Valley, is about a one hour drive and it's very common to see road side baked goods stands. They sell the biggest donuts I've ever seen. I love seeing these stands and of course buying from them.

Hi Vickie,
Glad you liked the pictures. Hadn't heard from you and was worrying. Say hello to Henry and Mabel from Pierre. He just got groomed today and looks really sharp. LOL

Hi Doreen,
So glad you liked the pictures. Glad you have roadside baked good stands near where you live. This is the first I have seen here. Darn, the lady I bought from didn't have any donuts. Maybe if this lady has a bake food stand there are others in the area. I am going to check this out. I love these stands and buying from them, too.

I was out at Miller's Bake Food Stand and found the prices for the quilts.

The first two smaller hanging quilts: one is the double wedding quilt and the second is the lone star quilt. They are $45.00 each.

The Blue Quilt is called the broken dish crib quilt and is $100.00

The pink quilt is the animal baby crib quilt and it is $100.00.

Her aprons are $8.00 each.

The men's straw hat has holes in it from wear and is $5.00.

I was over at Grabers who some of you may remember from a post on Amish Stories and it was the first post Richard had on here. The rag rugs are $20.00 each. I will have a post with pictures of them on in the not so distant future. I was told there are a lot more rug rags inside the house in about every color.

If any of you want to purchase these items, please let me know. The blue children's quilt is sold, but as far as I know, the rest are still for sale. I have listed the prices above. Postage for the quilts are $10.00. Prices for the aprons are $4.00. I will only accept Postal Money Orders. My next trip to Miller's will be this coming Friday or Saturday. If I receive your money by then, I will pick up your item and mail it out on Monday.

Also, if you want one of Graber's rag rug, the cost for each is $20.00 plus I charge $10.00 postage. I can pick those up the same time I go to Miller's.

This is a very kind gesture on your part, Marilyn, for those of us that are not very near anything like this..me, I'd have to drive 5 hrs...just to BE in an Amish county!

You are welcome, Sue Ann, glad to do it. It's only 25 miles from here to their homes, not the 5 hours you have to drive.
