PALMYRA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT, PALMYRA, NY - PART II

FIREMAN'S PRAYER
When duty call's me, oh Lord,
      Wherever Flames may rage,
Give me the strength to save some life
Whatever Be its age. Help me embrace a little child
      Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate Enable me to be alert,
and oh Lord, guide my every move,
      for life is so precious,
please don't let us loose. I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
      To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property And if according to thy will,
That I must give my life,
Then with thy protecting hand my Lord,
I pray thee, protect my children and my wife. Amen

The top picture is the Palmyra Fire Department logo.  Of course, one of the trucks.  In the back of the Firehouse they have a room where they have their pancake breakfasts, craft shows, dinners, etc. to raise money for the fire department.  When I was there, it was rented out for a Baby Shower.  Picture also shows the kitchen.  More pictures of the awards they have received.  The second last is the logo on their door.  The bottom picture is of the fire on May 3, 2013.  I have another to post to put on, I'm not sure when.  The last is the Fireman's Prayer.  God Bless the Firemen and Firewomen, not only in Palmyra, but every where.

It was a year ago today that the fire burned on Main Street here. Sixteen fire companies were here. We lost almost a whole village block, but thank to the fire departments, that is all we lost. Mark that owns Mark Pizza bought the buildings that were torn down, his building included and built a new restaurant and park. We thank all the fire departments and of course, Mark for bringing our town where it is today.

Firemen are so important and astounding group of people. When I live in PA they would come by to check on my mom who was ill to see if she needed anything. In my hometown in NY we lost 2 firemen from Sept 11.

Hi ga447,

I think that is great what the firemen did for your mom. That is terrible for all who died in 911. My hometown in Upstate New York didn't lose any of our firemen, but most of them went in shifts to NYC to help after 911. One of the fireman said they did it for their brothers. They would come here for us if we needed them.

Can't read the Fireman's Prayer without tears coming to my eyes. My hometown lost two Firefighters on December 24th, 2012 to a senseless act of violence. They were both so young and my heart still breaks for their families. How brave these men and women are that do this job. God Bless them all. Cathy in Webster

Hi Cathy,
I remember December 24th, 2012. Both your firefighters gave their lives that day. It is bad enough that they are going to fires, but now they don't know what else or who else will be there when they get there. I agree, they are brave when they do this job. As you say:
God Bless them all,

I was watching the six o'clock news on Channel 13 and they had pictures of our fire on and what has happened since. Guess there is going to more on at the 11:00 news.

Very nice tribute, Marilyn. I am sure it is nice for them to be able to see the support and appreciation they are receiving. (By, the way . . . it was nice to be able to see a little glimpse of you in the reflections! Almost enough to put a face to your words! :)

Hi Willow's Quiet Corner,
I didn't notice my reflection was in the pictures until you mentioned them. You are welcome for the tribute. They do so much for us.
