DUTCHLAND FOODS GROCERY IN MARION, NY - IS OPEN !!!!!!!

If you build it, they will come.  Well it was built and they did come.  I don't think the owners had any idea that they would get the crowd they did so fast.  When I got there, I asked if I could take pictures and Mr. Zimmerman said I could as long as I didn't take pictures of his employees and I didn't.  This is just a general run through of the store.  I have over 160 pictures, which I will show some now and again.  Dutchland is like a small Sauder's.  You will note there are spaces on many of the shelves, but that is do to the amount people are buying.  When anyone asked him for something the reply was the trucks will be here Monday.  They are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 9 to 6, Friday 9 - 8 and  on Saturday 9 to 4.  They are not open on Monday because that is the day the trucks come in and it gives them time to reload the shelves. In the second picture you note some flowers and pumpkins to the right - that was loaded up on Monday, but they are low now.  I believe these hours will be made longer when he gets going and can afford more employees.  I also, don't think, he thought of the apartment complex that is down the side street from the store.  That will bring in business, too.   If you wish to come and I encourage you, I would suggest Tuesday or Wednesday, if you could.  I went on Saturday.  It is a great store, in a very needed location and I hope it is a great success.

NOTE: I CHANGED THE HOURS ABOVE.  TODAY I FOUND THEIR AD IN A LOCAL PAPER WITH THE NEW HOURS IN IT, SO I THOUGHT I BETTER CHANGE THEM ON HERE.  THEY ARE AT: 3948 N. MAIN STREET, MARION, NY FORMERLY WHERE THE MARION SHURFINE  USE TO BE.

I stopped by yesterday. They were not busy, but the parking lot looks very small. This is going to be a to be a problem. Nice folks and I hope that they do well. Tom The Backroads Traveller

Hi Tom,
When I was there last Saturday they were packed, but again, that was on the weekend. There isn't much of a parking area. I hope they do well, too.

Good Morning,
It is a great store. I hope it does well, too. I use to own a store so I always hope independent stores are successful - especially this one.

Hi Marilyn, Your right, a smaller version of Sauders! From what you said as to it being a necessity for the area, I do hope it will be able to supply their area well as time goes on. Please thank Mr Zimmerman for allowing you to take the pics and share his store with the rest of us NYSofMind readers! Blessings,Carol

Lovely photos. I noticed the jars of Mustard Eggs. While on vacation, I tried mustard eggs and beet eggs at Mrs. Yoder's Restaurant in Mt.Hope, Ohio. I enjoyed both of them and would buy them if anyone in MI.stocked them. I hope the new store has much success.
