ELMER TELLS OF YOUNG FOLKS AT PINECRAFT

Seeing we are under snow up here, thought I would tell you about Eli and my sons and daughter in laws at Pinecraft in Florida.  A couple of days after the young folks arrived, Eli got a call from his Mother wondering if we ever fed those kids.  They were eating her out of house and home.  Eli told his Mother it was her great home cooking - which is the truth.  Of course Eli's Mother was kidding as she enjoyed cooking for them.  The daughter in laws helped her.  As Eli's son and daughter in law were staying with her and her husband, she felt she might as well feed them all.  To give the daughter in laws a break from cooking back home.  There's always something special about eating Mom's cooking.

I spoke with John to see what they had been doing while they were there.  He started by telling me that they went deep sea fishing right after he had eaten a big breakfast at Eli's Mothers.  It seems like last time, the water made him so he fed his breakfast to the fish.  The rest of them had a good time.

They also went to tour some of some places in the area like Sarasota Jungle Gardens, Ringling Museum, Farmers Market and alike.  He agreed with Grandmother Olive that the weather is a little cooler there than usual, so they haven't been able to go swimming. Sarah had never been swimming.  It was a rule her Father had made for his girls.  Anyway, John had taken her to a store to buy a swim suit.  She was embarassed trying them on even in the dressing room.  Sarah wouldn't let him see what she bought until they got back to their cottage.  Now that she has it, it is too cold to go swimming.

Also, they have been to the dinners that Pinecraft has once a week.  All the money from these dinners go for charity.  In the evening there is usually music, so they go to enjoy that.  Also on Friday or Saturday the people at Pinecraft hold their own garage sale or auction.  They just set up at the community building.  People put out items they made, baked, or something they don't need anymore, of course, with a price on them.

With activities they have played volley ball, shuffle board, and more.  They really enjoyed.  The problem seems that time is going by so fast.

They took Eli's Mother and Step-Father out to dinner at Yoder's.  It was sort of a thank you for all the meals and everything else they had done for them.  Somehow Eli's Step-Father moved faster than they did and paid the bill.  So they are going to try it again.  This time they are paying ahead so Step-Father can't pay.

I am telling you of all our son's and daughter in laws did, I wouldn't have anything to say when we get there.  Eli's Mother is already calling us the second shift for cooking meals for.  We tried to tell her we would take of our meals, but she said rubbage.

John told me how nice the weather is compared to ours.  I told him that he would be coming home to what we have and we would be going where he is. Then he didn't think it was so funny.

Trust God's Wisdom,
Elmer

Good morning, Marilyn. More great storytelling from Elmer! I love when he gives us a little peek into his family's doings. My dad would always try to pay our dinner ticket, too. He told me to just say thank you with a smile, maybe I'd get it next time. LOL Have a great day and try to stay warm.

Good Morning Angela,
Will see that Elmer gets your message. My Dad was the same way, he always payed the bill. The only way I got around him once was I gave my credit card to the owner of the restaurant before my parents came for dinner. I knew the owner, I worked with his wife. Hope you have a great day, too.

Good Morning Carol,
You are colder than we are. We have sunshine right now, too. Just want to go out and see if the car will still start. Don't plan on going anywhere.

Blessings to you and yours,
Marilyn

Sounds like they are all having a wonderful time! So good to hear of families enjoying each other this way. I always enjoy Elmer as well, he does sound like such a good man. Hope you and Pierre fare through the weather well. Here it is pouring snow, with low digits all week, and severe wind chills. Blessings to one and all.

Marilyn: Stay warm Do you let Pierre sleep in your bed? My cat used to cuddle in cold weather. What body heat! Sounds like a good idea for both of you to stay warm.
I was hoping John and Sarah could could take a dip in the Gulf but I remember unusually cold temps in the winter there.
Once again, Elmer had a great post.
Thanks, Carol in SC

Hi Carol in SC,
Pierre and I are making out well so far. Yes, Pierre can sleep on my bed. He won't go under the blankets though. I guess his previous owner taught him not to. I am trying to get him to do it. I have an electric blanket so that keeps us warm. Just as long as we don't lose the power.

I was hoping John and Sarah would go swimming too. Elmer didn't put in the post, but said, John said if it didn't warm up, he might find a place with an indoor pool and take Sarah there. That way she couldn't say she didn't go swimming for the first time in Florida. I told Elmer I know they have the YMCA somewhere in Sarasota. He was going to tell John. So she might go swimming in Florida, yet.

I will see Elmer gets your message.
