SODUS CENTER BRICK BAPTIST CHURCH AND CEMETERY, SOUTH SODUS, NY

Built in 1825-26 on land given by the Pultney Estate to the First Baptist Society of Sodus, the church is now owned by the Baptist Rural Cemetery Association of Sodus Center, In.  It is the Oldest Baptist Church in Wayne County.  Although the church is not used for Sunday services, anymore, it is available to the community for weddings, reunions and tours.

Surrounding the church is the Brick Cemetery which dates back to the Revolutionary War.  Soldiers from the Revolutionary War are buried in this cemetery.  At one time, the cemetery was not taken care of, but has since been restored.

Very interesting! I'd like to see that myself. Glad the cemetery has been restored and is cared for now. Too many people, places, and things tossed aside for so long. We've been living in a throw-away world and many don't seem to notice. Take care, Carol

Good Morning Carol,
The church and cemetery are one of those I found by just driving down a road and there they were. It is good that they restored the cemetery and care for it now. So sad how historic places are just let go.

It is -4 this morning. Pierre and I went out for him to do his potty and came right back in. We are not going out unless we have to.

Hi Folks,
Just took Pierre out and brought him back. All I can say is when it is 80 degrees outside this coming summer - remember this day.
