While in Canandaigua, I checked Alidi's parking lot and there was this horse and buggy. Last pictures at Alidi's, a few years back, was a courting buggy. This one is what I would call a family Old Order Mennonite buggy. The people came out while I was taking pictures. There was a Grandmother, son and granddaughter.
What was kind of funny was, I had been at Wal-Mart and an Old Order Mennonite Lady had been buying LOTS of bread in there. The lady that came out of Alidi's also had LOTS of bread. I asked Jean if she had any idea what all the bread was for. She said a wedding was coming up. Sometimes the ladies cheat a bit when making the stuffing for the dinner. Instead of using all homemade bread, they buy second day bread at the stores. As far as rolls and other breads served, they are handmade. But stuffing is made with store bought bread, sometimes. I thought that was funny.

By the way Marilyn, ask about courting buggies. I have asked some of my Amish friends and they have never heard of a courting buggy. Tom The Backroads Traveller
Good morning, Marilyn. Thanks for the pictures. I'm in California, so don't see many buggies. LOL Do all the buggies have glass windows? Do the windows go down, or do they take them out for the summer?
Hi Tom,
I will ask. The one that that I have seen is an open two seater buggy. Pictures that I had of one was an Old Order Mennonite courting buggy. That is enclosed but only room for two people.

Hi Angela,
Glad you liked the pictures. Will see that Elmer and Jean get your questions.

At a Walmart in Morgantown,PA, they have a nice roofed hitching area for the buggies and horses. Love to see them "parked" in their own special shelter.
Hello to Elmer and Anna, enjoyed his post as always! Will try to think of some questions, topics to ask about for future postings.

Hi Mary,
They don't have an area like that for buggies and horses in our area, which is sad.
Will see that Elmer and Anna get yours message.

Hi Folks,
Got some bad news on my car. Repairs on my car would be close to $1000. and I can't afford that. So I am going to be off the road for a while. I am in shock right now. It's the fule pump and it may need a new gas tank.
