DUTCHLAND FOODS GROCERY STORE, MARION, NY - WHAT'S OUT FRONT ???

I hadn't' been by the Dutchland Foods Grocery Store in Marion, New York in a while and thought I would go by.  We have had this store on before as it was grocery store gas station that sat vacant for many years until the Weaverland Mennonite family took it over, renovated it. and opened it as Dutchland Foods Grocery Store.

When I drove by this time, in addition to their groceries, , they had these beautiful wooden items for sale that are Mennonite and / or Amish made.  I thought you might enjoy seeing them.

The chairs and benches with the floral backs are gorgeous. Also, I have never seen a playset like the one pictured.

Good Morning Marilyn, all of those benches and chairs are beautiful and they appear to all be gliders. I love gliders. Wonderful craftsmanship. Have a beautiful day Marilyn, today looks to be a beauty now that the humidity is gone! Cathy in Webster

Good Morning Angela,

Most of our wood is directly from the trees. This is a little off the subject, but I saw some Amish men cutting down wood and wanted to take pictures. Elmer and Anna were with me so Elmer got out and talked to the men. Elmer wanted to know what they were clearing the area for. They said they were going to build a new house and barn there. When he asked if I could take pictures they nicely said they rather I didn't. Elmer said he knew they would use some of the wood for their wood burning stove, but what were they going to do with the rest of it. They said they had made a deal with another Amish man who makes furniture and he was going to get what they didn't need. I didn't take pictures, but I had never seen men take trees down like that before.

Hi Marilyn, nice, real nice! Saunter's in Seneca Falls has furniture etc out front also. Living where we do now, it has been quite a long time since I've been to Sauter's, let alone that particular area. Blessings, Carol

This furniture is really nice. I also liked the gliders with the flower backs but the one with the grapes really caught my eye too. The woodworking talents of the Amish or Mennonite is really well done. Love that sunflower too and along time ago, I planted some with this color and some that were two toned color. When you check on sunflower seeds, you find many kinds of colors, sizes, and shapes. That was when I started loving sunflowers. Have a great weekend.

Hi Dynnamae n,

The furniture is really nice to see. The Amish and Mennonites really do outstanding work. I didn't know that you could get sunflowers in different colors until the man that planted mine showed me the package.
