JEAN'S APPLE CAKE AND FROSTING

JEAN'S APPLE CAKE AND FROSTING

3 eggs
1 1/2 cups cooking oil
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp soda
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup pecans
4 cups peeled and chopped apples

Cream eggs, and cooking oil.  Add sugar, flour, salt and soda.  Add vanilla, pecans and apples.  Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees in 9x13 pan.

FROSTING

1 cup brown sugar
1 stick butter
1/4 cup milk

Mix ingredients together and boil for 2 1/2 minutes.  Pour over hot cake.  Cook cake and serve.

Can top cake and frosting with ice cream.

Sounds wonderful. I've never seen a brown sugar icing. Often the best recipes have the simplest basic ingredients.

I guess it's a recipe that goes back a way. I remember when my Mom use to make brown sugar icing sometimes - but that was a long time ago. You are right. Will see that Jean gets your message.
