THANKSGIVING DAY POST by Elmer

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart, wait, I say, om the Lord." Psalm 27, Verse 14.

I may have used this verse on a previous Thanksgiving Day or maybe Christmas or even Easter with New York State of Mind.  It is one of my favorite verses in the Bible and I use it often.

Wait on the Lord is my hardest part of this verse for me.  The human me wants everything to be done now.  We, as others, are going through the hard times of the virus.  Much of the crops we planned to sell this year, didn't sell because people are not buying as much as they did in previous years.  Or if the crops sold, the price was much lower than in previous years.

I understand that many people are going in harder problems than we are.  Some have lost their jobs, have rent or mortgage payments, bills they can't pay, car payments and repairs, can't put as much food on their tables and more.  So far, we haven't had to go through those problems, all though we are being conservative. \ To put it plainly things are tough.  But we must Wait on the Lord and be of good courage.  We must continue thanking the Lord, Praising the Lord and asking of the Lord.  We must have the courage to believe that he will strengthen our hearts. We must wait.  As I said, wait is my hard part.  Some day this too will pass.

So what can we do to while we wait?  We must look at what we have and what we can do.  We should be thankful for what we have.  it doesn't matter if your house is paid off, you were able to make this month's rent, etc.  Anna and I get going thanking the Lord and we start thanking for our barns, house, etc. and after we go through for a while sometimes we thank the Lord for tooth brush, toilet paper,  pens and paper - whatever we can think,  We Praise the Lord.  We should Praise the Lord for the good things and the hard times as the Lord has a reason for these - even if we don't understand.  When we pray, we pray not for  just our family and friends, but for people who ask for prayer or people we don't know but we see them maybe having a hard time.  We even pray for our farm animals and pets..

Try getting up some morning and watch the sun rise.  Maybe we mow sometimes lawn - I think we still might be able to get one more mow.  Shovel snow for someone.  Anna went and cleaned out a ladies garden and prepared it for the winter.  Anna and the lady wore masks and they stood far apart while the lady told Anna what she wanted.  Helping someone else if you can as long as you don't get close and keep your masks on.

We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Trust God's Wisdom,

Elmer and Anna

Thank you for your post,Elmer and to Marilyn for putting it on. Gratitude should be our attitude, if you don't mind a little rhyme. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
