ERIE CANAL IN THE WINTER

Pictures I took last weekend of the Erie Canal.  I took these on a bridge that is seldom used.  Of course for the last two pictures, there were two cars behind me so I took them fast.  It is really different of those in the summer.

PALMYRA CEMETERY IN THE WINTER

Going through the cemetery this time of year is so quiet.  I was driving by and thought I would take some pictures.  You can't drive all the way through as it hasn't all been plowed.  Some of the stones are buried under the snow, but here is some I could get that weren't.

MENNONITE FARM

Saw the owners of this farm walking their dogs and asked if I could take pictures of their house and barns.  The lady said go ahead, but the barns need to be painted in the spring.  She told me that they recently purchased it.  What I didn't realized until I left is that they have a flag in front of their barns which is unusual for the Amish and Mennonite.

PALMYRA OPERA HOUSE, GYM , NOW EMPTY

On the bottom of this building is the Village Hall, Police Department, Building Inspector, Mayor's Office, Court Hall, etc.  The second floor is empty now, but use to be the Community Center which has moved to a another building.  But many years before it was being the Community Center, it use to be an opera house.  They allowed a tour in there a few years ago and for some reason, I couldn't go, but my neighbor Randy went and took these pictures.  There was talk of converting it to an opera house again, but that didn't go over.  Then there was talk of converting it into a couple of different places, but they all got voted down.  These pictures were taken a few years ago and it still remains the same today.  Empty.  It's kind of sad.  Randy passed away about a year and a half ago and we still miss him.

There will be a post tomorrow.

BUILDINGS UNUSUAL

With it being 1 degree outside and with the wind it feels even colder, I had to put something on without snow in it.  Hope you enjoy these unusual buildings.  What is the temperature where you are?

MARTHA'S MUSHROOM TUNA CASSEROLE

MARTHA'S MUSHROOM TUNA CASSEROLE

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
2 Tbsp butter
2 cups noodles, cooked and drained
1 can mushroom soup ( 1 1/4 cups)
1 can tuna
1/4 cup Cheddar cheese

Cook onion and green pepper in butter until soft.  Combine with cooked\ noodles, soup and tuna.  Pour into 1 1/2 quart casserole, top with cheese.  Bake at 400 degrees about 30 minutes or until top is lightly browned.  You can also use salmon instead of tuna, if you like.

Martha is Bishop Joseph's wife.  She and Jean are close friends.

If you live where the cold weather is coming, please take care of yourself and stay warm.  If you do not hear from me, that means we lost our power, which we might with the wind - again maybe we won't.
